Trading in Your 2014

I love these threads. When GM is knocking off $10K off the top for the large stock of 2014 still in dealers inventories, how is anyone shocked that you're going to lose $15K-up on a trade in for a 1 year old truck? Lesson learned buy the right truck the first time

Mine is almost 2 yrs old. I did buy the right truck, kinda want to get out of the 14 due to all the issues.

I guess what he is saying is if you wanted a crew cab you should have got one the first time around.

You're going to get the most for it selling it privately.

Haha, I wish truck has it problems. The pops and cracks in the dash drive me crazy. Cold mornings, keep in mind I am in so cal (60F) take about 30 secs of hard cranking. I have spoke to the dealer and they say it is normal. Friend has a 15 and does not have half the issues I have.

I have a feeling the 2015 will do the same dash popping thing. As for the cold starting problem mine does it, but only maybe for about 3-4 seconds tops. Very odd that it would take you 30 seconds, and I find it even more odd that the dealer would consider that normal.

So trading in your current truck, losing money on it's value, buying another of the same model and expecting a better outcome is the way to go? Sure. So I stand by my statement you're not going to get a good trade in with heavy discounts on brand new 2014's still sitting on dealer lots. As projectsummit already said, you're better off selling it outright.

The 2015's seem to have many of the same issues as the 2014's. I doubt that trading would be an improvement.

Don't see any point in selling a '14 for '15. Any additions are neglible and not worth the loss you would take in any way.

I'm in Socal too, west covina to be exact, not sure what you're complaining about, i havent had any "hard cranking" issues, 2015's use the same "cranking" anyways.

got 30,000 miles on my double cab. might get a crew cab later down the road, but for now, it's just me and the wifey.

45k trade in if it was a buy back or else he paid sticker on it when he bought plus sticker on a 2015.

This thread is a perfect example of not buying what you really want then remorse sets in.

No matter where you trade, you're going to lose money. You will not get what you paid for the truck, common knowledge.

What's with all the trading a 2014 for 2015 lately? Seems like a bonehead move IMO. Don't buy a truck until you find exactly what you want, or order, that's the best way to do it. That way there is no buyers remorse and you won't lose thousands on trading a truck that you just bought.

Not trying to bash anyone but it's just not financially responsible to trade a brand new truck for another.

Only way it makes sense is if you have unfixable issues and GM refuses a buy back.

^^ this is 100% correct. After regretting my purchase a couple cars ago I vowed I would NEVER do that again. I go in to the dealership with the exact vehicle, option set, color etc in mind. If it's either not available or the price is too high, I move on. I have 0 regrets for my 15 Silverado purchase. I live in So Fla and really wanted air conditioned seats...I've had that option on other cars and I personally like it. I can't even tell you how many trucks I looked at until I found the one I wanted with all the other options that were important to me (4x4, full center console, OEM 22s, etc) and those damn seats. The upside, I am happy as hell with my truck

i can post a snapshot if you want. i got 45k on trade and bought a 2001 tahoe for 8300. got 900 back from dealer after payoff. paid 52k for 2014 denali supplier discount and financed 45k.

i almost traded in on a 2008 bmw x5 but the ford dealer could only give me 43k on my denali. honestly at this point im so disappointed in the 2014s i realized i'd rather drive a paid off car with no features than a 45k debt bucket that i wasn't happy with completely.
