Trading in Your 2014

I have been tossing around the idea to trade my 14 for a 15

 

I have spoke to 2 dealers and walked out disgusted on the trade in offers they gave me.

 

I have a double cab and would love to move to a Crew Cab. The deal has not been there to make me pull the trigger.

 

 

 

Anyone have any insight. Seems like the 14 resale value is not holding. According to KBB we are above 15% depreciation

Of course they are going to hose you on a trade in for a 1 year old vehicle.

If you can manage, try to sell it privately, then take that cash and use it as a down payment for 2015. Dealership wanted to give me $4,000 for my 08 Silverado. Sold it privately for $12,000 and went back to the dealership and used that as my DP for my 14.

What did they want to give you for your trade? I bought the truck in my sig., a used 2014 with 11,000 miles on it in January for $38 and change.It is a certified pre-owned so I get an additional 4000 mile/1yr warranty.

I would try and sell it privately. If you do that and put the money down on a new one they will probably do 5-10k off a new loaded crew cab. I had them down about $7000 of a new 2015 up here in Canada, they usually dont discount as much in Canada as they do in the US. They offered me 10,500 for my trade in.

 

I ended up listing my truck for sale for $14,000 and sold it in 4 days to the first person who looked at it for exactly what I was asking, I then bought a used 2014 sierra all terrain slt crew for $31,000 ($25,861 USD).

My dealer offered me 30K for my SLT with 18K miles unseen. Truck still smells new lol

I was offered 24k with 16k miles. I was pissed.

What was list and what did you pay for yours 16,000 miles ago?

They gave me 30k for my 2014 Silverado double cab z71 lt plus with 19500 miles on it.

Before I trade in any car I always make a run to CarMax just to get a ballpark for what a low trade in value will be. I had a trade when I purchased my Silverado last month and actually got a great value from Autotrader's "trade-in marketplace." if you haven't seen it, it's an online appraisal system that will give you a value for your trade and a list of dealerships willing to purchase the car outright. It's free and will give you at least some sense as to whether the value your getting at the dealership is in the ballpark or way off.

Seems a bit low. What did you pay, and did you go back to the dealer your purchased your 14 from? Generally you'll get hosed, especially if you got a decent deal. Maybe look for a dealer that isn't in your immediate area to sell to or try to get rid of it through personal sale.

I purchased it for 35k.

 

28k with trade in.

 

I think I am going to move to bow tie. GMC is pissing me off. I am going to go swing by the local Chevy Dealership

Been seeing a lot of these "Trade in 2014 for a 2015" recently, not trying to trash talk but when you're buying something around $30,000-$40,000, you should already know what you want so you don't get into this depreciation trade in situation a year later. Just sayin'

 

Sad to see people lose money because of a year old trade in lol...Just sayin'

I love these threads. When GM is knocking off $10K off the top for the large stock of 2014 still in dealers inventories, how is anyone shocked that you're going to lose $15K-up on a trade in for a 1 year old truck? Lesson learned buy the right truck the first time
