I used a 2x4 on the floor when I feel the tires hit it I know that I have less than 2 inches to the wall. Although the corvette wins the garage space and the truck is in the elements. I think it may be time for the expansion of the garage

My hood just fits under my cabinets and the windshield of the truck slides just under the bikes hanging from the rafters.

 

I use a 4x4 block of wood (with a piece of rubber on the bottom to keep it from sliding) and a rope hanging from the cabinets.

 

I actually brought mine home and checked it first.

Mine fits the same way. About 2-3" in the front and in the back. My wall has drywall which reduces clearance even more. I use a parking stop with two bumps and I also have a mirror placed at an angle at left front garage corner to watch the front bumper. The fit is so tight that I cannot let the truck roll onto the second bump or the front bumper will lightly tap the wall.

 

To make matter worse, once parked, the left fender is less than a foot away from my rolling tool chest and the right fender sits about 6-8" from the oil reservoir for the 4-post lift. The hood sits about 8" below the shelving. The left mirror has to be folded when I want to pull in straight or a creative maneuver is needed to clear the garage door frame on the left and a column for the lift on the right.

 

 

My truck is a half-ton Crew Cab Short Bed.

Nice... I just had my house built last year and I first talked the wife into a 3 car garage. That was a fight then I extended to 24' deep instead of 20' deep because I knew I would be getting a full size truck with in the next year or so and I wanted it to fit and be able to get around it. My wife hated the builders we used but the good news is she did admit that if we did again the garage would be bigger.

Well I just got home with the new Denali and I knew getting the crew cab with the standard bed would be only 9.5 inches longer, but looking at the truck it's hard to believe it actually does fit my pathetically undersized garage.

I knew I would have about 2 inches to spare but now I have confirmation!

I have them for all 3 cars. Insures we get it exactly right every time!

 

you'll notice in the mirror i have a rope light hooked to the garage door opener light at the base of the wall so i can see the the wall under the bumper as i pull in as i look down the wall from the mirror at the ceiling.

i get it within 1/2 an inch every time.

ill be installing a 4x4 and some stand offs at the wall so i can actually hit something with the front tires to guarantee i never hit the wall.

ill get to that later this has served me well of the past 1.5 years but my last truck was shorter so i did not need the exactly ness of the parking until now.

we are actually thinking about a new house, smaller cause the kids are growing up, but with a large detached garage in addition to a main house 3 car garage. I need places to put my toys!

I really want to be able to work on my cars, truck in a garage that I don't have to pull cars out of the garage to have enough room to jack up a vehicle, wash it, or work on it.

our last house was a good deal smaller and only a 2 car garage but that was 9 years ago we upgraded.

I'm jealous. My Denali sits outside because I need an extra 8 inches on the garage. I'll be much more careful next time when buying a house to check garage measurements.

Being in the insurance business, I never could get my mind around that concept, 500 bucks worth of crap in the garage and 50k of vehicles outside in the elements.

I added a shed in back when I ran out of garage space so all 3 cars have a space in the garage

I agree. My truck is too tall for the garage so it goes to the bank around the corner when expecting weather and then the wife's car goes in the garage.

I'm jealous. Mine won't fit in my garage, no matter what I do. Thankfully, it doesn't hail here.

That is almost true here. Very very rarely does it hail here. But alas the day after I purchased my truck I was taking my mom home from a doctor's appointment to only find myself in a major golf ball + size hailstorm. I finally managed to find some large trees to duck under. That was the largest sized hail that I had ever experienced in my life. A few times I thought that the windshield was going to break. I did inspect the roof and hood and was very happy to learn that there was no damage.

 

Mine won't fit in the garage even if my hubby moved all of the crap out of it.

lol i say this all the time and my fiance works in insurance and it drives her nuts too.

 

Its always junk just sitting in the garages and the nice vehicles outside, hell they dont even have to be nice. I will get rid of crap before my vehicles dont fit because of hoarding

First thing i did was measure the length and height of my garage and then got the measurements of the truck.

 

The left side of the garage is normal car length and the other side has a cut out with like an extra 4-5 feet

Well, for garage space for me and the hoarding/piled up crap, I start a bonfire and burn stuff, my wife thinks im crazy but it keeps the clutter down for sure. Although I dont burn anything that I can make at least 20 bucks on. Mainly my garage is full of spare sbc parts and tools.

Haha you sound like me, I try and make a buck all the time and my fiancé is all "no just give it to someone"

Before I purchased my truck I test drove it to my house and parked it in the garage - the salesman thought I was nuts but entertained me nonetheless. My crew cab fits with about 10 total inches to spare.
