Well just installed the first tune with the i2. Went the basic route and did the easy tune. I need to burn up the gas in my tank so I can fill up with some 91 and try out the performance tune.

 

First impressions are the device is very fast. Not sure how the i1000 was, but once I selected the tune it only took about 5 min max to back up stock tune, update with the new tune and I was good to go. Pretty slick. So far the basic tune has great throttle response and I can already tell the truck feels and runs better. After dinner I'm going to go for a cruise and see how it feels all together.

 

For those of you that have the i1000, what parameters have you used on the custom tune? What settings give you the best driveability?

I'm currently running the Diablo 91/flex tune w/ AFM on, throttle boost at +8, Torque Management off, TCM Hard shift. I'll probably go back to AFM off, I turned it back on to check my mpg which turns out only gains me about 0.5mpg. The hard shift isn't bad at all unless you go WOT from a stop then it's very quick/snappy thru the first few gears, kind of feels like you might break something. It makes me nervous so I may go back to the firm shift for no other reason than to just avoid those very hard shifts once in awhile. But in either case the trans tunes are much better than stock. I've tried TM both on and off, with off it feels more powerful. I typically always use E85 and with that the 91 tune seems much better than the 87 tune using 87. I also have larger LT AT tires so I've corrected my speedo with it and turned the speed limiter off but it's not like I ever get close to that 98mph limit. Overall I've been pretty happy with the i1000.

Just had mine tuned 3 weeks ago. I love it, really woke this thing up. Can't wait to get the longtubes on it now!

I just purchased my Sierra about a month ago. So only have about 500-600 miles on her right now. Any advantage to waiting a few thousand miles before getting a custom tune from Lew or BB?

The only advantage would be to get it now and enjoy it! Makes a world of a difference over stock!

I thought when I first installed the canned tune, it really woke the truck up, but after installing the custom tune from Lew, he puts the canned tune to shame. Truck drives like a dream now

That's awesome news. What did you end up having him tune it for? 87 or 91? Does he do the tuning for E85 also? The canned 91 tune feels so much better than the 87 but I have a hard time paying that higher price at the pump. The Diablo tune with E85 runs great but mileage and now the price spread makes it harder to justify using that also. If Lew makes a killer 87 tune I'd be really interested.

If i get the custom tune, say from DiabLew, what happens if if I put the truck into Tow/Haul mode while driving and towing something without selecting a "tow Tune"...does the custom tune know that i pushed the button and keep using the tune, or does towing something throw everything off. I tow a boat every once in a while over the summer and if i tune it i don't want to have to keep changing the tune back and forth...any input??

I just had a custom in person BlackBear tune done a week ago. Your tow haul mode has nothing to do with engine tune. I actually had my trans tune based close to my tow haul mode. I don't really know too much about the DiabLew but I could not be happier with my BlackBear tune. I can honestly say it was the best 300 bucks I have ever spent. Well almost but that a story for another forum.lol I got the 91-93/E85 tune and I really enjoy driving my truck now. It pulls like a mule, but most difference is in the trans tune. WOW what a difference. Now shifts are crisp and firm, it is always in the "right" gear and it seriously couldn't be any better if it was a manual 4 speed.

Same here!!Lew really made my truck run like a dream,Stronger,Shifts so much better,Better MPG,and tows better in the tow/haul mode.good luck guys

What'd you have him tune for (87, 91, E85)? Does he do the tunes like the canned ones where they are 91/flex?

Maybe I'm just imagining this but has anyone else with the latest updated canned diablo/flex tune, version GM Tune Db: 1r02q, notice it feels a lot nicer, smoother, stronger than before?

      Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.

      I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.

      4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.

      2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
