There is proof. A tune still falls under Magnuson Moss, the cause of failure was not a lean condition or preignition, a tune doesn't break cam phasers.

But who is to say the shift points weren't raised, and the increased rpms are not within manufactures specs.

As simple as that and the warranty is denied and done. If they decide to be firm and you altered the tune you won't win in court.

Any of you guys running a BBP 91-93 tune. Can you and have you run e85 with this?

Oh to dream... When purchased, is a tuner sent, plug into port and tune away or how's it work?

I didn't say a tune can't ever be the cause of failure. I am saying it isn't automatically the cause of failure just because it is there.

I also do not condone trying to get the manufacturer to pay for your mistakes. If you break it, you pay to fix it.

Yes, yes and yes.

Well that was easy. Good to hear also because E85 is plentiful here in Chattanooga. :driving: Thanks bigsapper.

I just ordered the new Diablosport i2 today from Lewis or Diablew. Should have it before this weekend. Anxious to get it updated and wake up the truck!

Like BigSapper said, yes, so long as your vehicle is E85 capable.

Yes it is. Dang, this is going to be a LONG two weeks to get my BBp tune. Can hardly wait. Took my truck in two days ago to get an oil change tire rotation before I get my tune in Atlanta and told the service manager not to do any updates or flash the computer because I finally got the radio and trans behaving OK. So I knew when I picked my truck up and saw the theme on the radio and favorites all screwed up they reflashed. I nearly got hit three times today trying to merge from a turn lane into traffic today. From a crawl then mash the gas pedal about 75% the truck and it gets ready to do the 1st to 2nd shift and then.............crickets. Very scary and dangerous. I know its only for a second or two but seems like an eternity. After the tune I guess I will need to get one of those ODB port covers that say "DO NOT REFLASH".

Let us know how it goes and how you like the i2. Curious if it's much different than the first version of their tuner. Which I've been very happy with their canned tunes slightly tweeked. Any idea if Lew is tuning for E85 yet?

Kind of new to tuning but i am definitely interested in getting my truck done - my buddy has his diesel truck tuned with an Edge evolution - and he has the ability to switch from a performance tune, to mpg saving tune, etc..

is there something like that for our gas trucks? And i see that Diablew does it through the inTune device and emails over the code or something, and that blackbear has dates where you can physically go and get your truck tuned.. Just trying to figure out the difference.. does blackbear use inTune as well? and how are people going from their tune back to stock and vice versa? is all that log data just saved on the inTune where you can easily switch back and forth?

Sorry for all the questions but thanks for anyone who can answer some!

Actually, we had a customer whose cam phaser went out, and cracked three pistons. He did not have his AutoCal with him to return to stock (was on a road trip). He had LTs on as well. GM denied his warranty, wanting him to sleeve $12k for a new engine and exhaust. Mediation is not done in court, it is done through the BBB. We had no problem providing info to the customer for his case. GM lost, everything was covered, and he still has his warranty. You are correct a legal battle would be much more expensive (for GM as well). The owners manual actually outlines the dispute process.

Sent from my fone.

Jenna, Glad to hear you guys are willing to take the time to help a customer deal with this should it ever arise.

FYI: 2014 GMC BBear tuned going on 9k miles. Everything Kosher....wouldnt think of having it any other way. My dealer has a separate bay area for lube service...I have an Autocal, but havent had the need to go to stock for oil changes. If I ever need actual service I will go back to stock tune.

Well just installed the first tune with the i2. Went the basic route and did the easy tune. I need to burn up the gas in my tank so I can fill up with some 91 and try out the performance tune.

First impressions are the device is very fast. Not sure how the i1000 was, but once I selected the tune it only took about 5 min max to back up stock tune, update with the new tune and I was good to go. Pretty slick. So far the basic tune has great throttle response and I can already tell the truck feels and runs better. After dinner I'm going to go for a cruise and see how it feels all together.

For those of you that have the i1000, what parameters have you used on the custom tune? What settings give you the best driveability?

    • Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.
    • I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.
    • I have these on two vehicles and love them. Pepper is one of them 😉
    • 4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.
    • 2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
