jvanwinkle2 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Looking to see how these engines are handling the performance tuning. Post what engine, tuner, and how the holding up ie any issues or concerns. Also how many miles you have on your truck after the tune. Think this would be a good thread for guys looking to tune.
iCryWheniGoPoop Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 '14 5.3 and '15 6.2 both tuned by me. They respond very well to a good tune, especially E-85 but most improvement is seen in trans and TQ management. I put over 30k on my 14 and pushing 4k on my new 15. A GOOD tune will reward you with a shit eatin grin!!!
Higgs Boson Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 self tuned with HPTuners long tubes, air raid tube runs great, gets better mileage without AFM, more power.
fondupot Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I have a 2014 5.3 tuned by Blackbear Performance. AFM turned off, running an 89 octane tune and a cleaned up trans tune better shifts and less gear hunting. I have had the tune for about 12k miles. No issues. Trans shifts way better than stock. I've used Blackbear in the past to tune a 2002 Silverado 5.3 and a 2008 Suburban 5.3. Both of those were awesome too.
wurgs Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I had a Diablew tune for over 30000 miles on my 09 6.0l with no issues and just got one for my current truck.
ryandemo84 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I have a 2014 5.3 with a Diablew tune. Had it for about 10k miles so far. Truck runs great. A lot more fun to drive. Shifting is much much better. Returning to stock to go to dealership for oil changes im reminded how sluggish the truck is. Do your truck a favor, they are begging to be tuned.
robvas Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 8k on my 2014 Silverado 5.3 and 3k on my 2015 sierra 6.2, both with the DiabloSport tuner. No issues.
bigsapper Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 2014 5.3, BBP tune. Currently @12k miles with the last 10k tuned. LT headers, Airaid Jr, 3000 stall, E85. No issues.
jvanwinkle2 Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Definitely some good reviews. Glad to hear they are holding up well. Time will tell on how long these engines will last.
AZRenegade Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I'll second Ryandemo84's opinion. Have only had the Diablew tune on my '15 for about 5K miles. Just had to restore the original tune to go to the dealer for an oil change. What a dog! I'm considering reinstalling the custom tune in the dealer's lot after the service. That's how bad the stock tune is compared to a custom tune. Oh yeah, I have a Diablew tune on both my trucks, a '14 W/T and my SLE. Over 10K on my W/T and no issues. Same for my SLE.
sahls01gmc Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Curious, why can't you get the oil changed with a tune?
