Rock chips and door dings

Feels better when you can get together with your fellow truck owners and shed a tear in remembrance of that perfect paint job.

I'm sad cause I got my first door ding today. Some shops and places I go don't give me a choice to park far away and alone, which whenever possible I do. Exercise! Haha

Came out to see a clean spot on my trucks rear passenger door. It's dusty and needs a wash after the rain, so I know someone was touching it.

Approached the door and let out an audible "**** me".

Nice door ding and chipped the paint.

Matches the scratch on the hood from God knows what.

Kind of along the lines of this, are the rear fenders susceptible to rock chips? The Colorado's and Canyon's are, wondering if that is the case with these. Tried googling and searching but nothing is coming up, so I am thinking this is a non issues with these trucks? A few pictures of the Colorado/Canyon guys have posted after 10k miles shows tons of rock chips, almost looks like it has been sand blasted.

I feel ya man! May be just me but it seems like every time I try to park way out and away, someone for no known reason has to park right by me. Hence, I have the slow walk of anticipated doom back to my truck....

Happened to me a week ago. I was driving down the hwy and a rock hit my driver side door and dented and chipped it. Good thing I know a great PDR guy and had it fixed a couple of days later. Now i just need to get the paint pen to touch up the chip it left.

Hey Tyler,

I haven't had any issues with rock chips around the fender as of yet. I know my rams did though. I figure it would depend heavily on road conditions.

It is this reason I sold the wife on my idea for lifting my truck? had to protect my investment from all of the people that don't want your nice things to stay nice.

Haha I hate that feeling of anxiety.

Usually it's another truck guy who parks next to me when I'm way out in the lot. So I'm never too worried cause I know I'm super considerate with my doors and I make sure my passengers are as well.

It's when I see a 90's panel van next to me when I walk with my **** all puckered up to the truck haha.

Ouch. I always have the urge to pull over and check it out right away when it happens. I'm that crazy guy on the side of the highway licking his thumb, rubbing his truck haha.

I'm glad you have a PDR guy, I could use a dependable person cause I'd pay good money if I knew it was getting fixed properly.

Is it just me or does the paint on the new style scratch and chip alot easier than older models? My buddy put his golf clubs over the side of my bed, looks like he attacked it with a knife.

I feel you man. I always make it a point to park at the back of parking lots far away from everyone else. The one time in 2 years that I park in a lot where there's only tight spaces up close to the building, I get a nice enormous dent and scratch from some animal impersonating "the hulk" throwing their driver door open. Pisses me off that they don't care. Their car is probably a POS anyway.

I hate that. Especially when it's someone in a 20 year old shitbox Accord or something.

I try to park out away from everyone or near the nicer cars that you know are doing the same thing you are. If I can't, I try to get a space next to an island and get as close to the island as I can without scraping my wheels.

My 14 has 28k miles on it and I'm pretty disappointed with the paint chips. Fixing them is on my to do list before it gets cold this fall.

I'm at 26k and I'm in the same boat. Look on the rear quarter panels and it's just rock chip galore. Not sure why they didn't put that heavy paint like on the rockers
