Power Running Boards

Too much for that little lift. My standard AMP steps are just about right for 2-4". I doth think you'd need the XL until you get above 4" (fender measurement)

Thank you sir

That wireless version could be a game changer. Amp needs to step up.

Speaking of Bestop, are their lights better / whiter than the blue things that come with the Amps?

Have you ever installed the new Amps with the plug-and-play harness? It really is a piece of cake. It actually looks easier than the Bestop wireless ones (my opinion in terms of difficulty would be "original" Amps, then wireless Bestop, then Amp p-n-p). Even though I linked Bestop in my post I went with the Amps due to build quality. I found a deal online and with the p-n-p harness and an additional OBD passthrough (not required for the install but an option) my cost was about the same as Bestop. They have been on for over a month now including all the snow/slush we got recently and they are GREAT!

About the lights -- since I didn't install Bestop I don't know what color the lights are. The ones with the Amps are a little "purplish" but the cheap LED's from ebay look too bright for me so for now I stuck with the Amp lights. Once I find something I like better I'll just cut off the Amp lights and splice 8 wires back on to mount the new lights (2 wires at each light).

I will say this about the AMP steps. They have been on my truck for about a year and a few months and they are worth every penny. My truck has been through a lot of mud and on a beach several times. And they have held up and never missed a beat. I'd highly recommend them

Anyone put the AMP Power Steps on a 14-15 Sierra with a 6' lift? The stock running boards still are a little high for my wife to get in and have been looking at the Power Steps and XL version and wondering if the normal steps would be the right height without going another $600 to get the extra 3" that the XL boards provide. Pics would be great to get an idea how far down they sit from the footwell once the door is open. Even if someone has pics on a 4" lift, it might show what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure the normal power steps have an extension arm kit option as well. the extension is a lot cheaper than $600 for sure and supposedly adds 2". I have not tried them though.

I saw that on their site and thought that would be perfect and then noticed that the extension is only compatible with a few part numbers, which looked like a few Ford trucks.

With a 4.5" lift and bigger tires, the truck will be 6-7"higher. You'll like the AMP steps as much as her.

Mine are on a 1500 Silvy without any lift. They measure about 13" down from the sill plate to the step when it is extended (see the file from Amp attached below for info concerning drops).

Also, on the Amp Support page there is a troubleshooting guide. In that guide it says this so you may have to go with the XL's:

Concern: Body lift
Some suspension manufacturer’s body lifts will cause the step to make contact with the
body mount(s) and can not be used with the Power Step. GM SUVs with body lift
spacers cause the step to contact the body mount. The Power Step can not be used
without major modifications to the frame/body mount.
There is a ton of info here if you click on the "Tech Tips" tab:

A question for you AMP step guys..

1. Are they farmer proof? I wish I had a UTV at every farm but I don't and I'm not always in the farm truck.

2. Can I bury my truck to the frame and not mess them up?

3. Do they tuck up tight enough where I won't rip them off?

4. If I am going through a low water crossing will this damage them?

5. Also do they protect from rock chips any? That was my favorite thing about OEM steps because that's all they were good for.

I really hate how I slide in and out of my truck, but on all my other trucks with OEM running boards I always stepped over them and got damn dirt on my pants from brushing them. Everyone says they are worth the money, but I don't want to spend the money if I'm going to end up "redesigning" them from my farm & hunting activities.

Thanks for the help!

well, the truck already had a 2" inch level and 33's. so it's not going to be much higher.....i don't think. but she's pretty short and has been complaining since i bought the truck almost a year ago. But you're right, i too will enjoy the steps.

I don't think anything is farmer proof.

Can't answer the farmer proof question but I can say they are excellent quality. They tuck very nicely up under the truck. All wiring connectors are heat shrinked - what I am not positive of - can't remember - is if the connections to he motors themselves are waterproof. That's the only thing I could see you having a problem with if you submerse them. I've had several trucks with many steps and those are by far the best looking and functional.

Anyone have the Amp XL power steps? If so can you please upload a side view photo? I want to do a 1.5" body lift and am hoping these steps will give just enough coverage so I do not see the frame hanging below the truck. First time I have ever came across the XL steps.
