Exhaust Leak

Driver side exhaust manifold is giving out. It has a 2" crack near the collector, and it leaks at the junction of the Y pipe.

 

So I was looking a Gibson shorty headers. Wondering if anyone has experience with these? Or any shorty header?

 

Also, could the bad manifold be causing an idle problems? The truck will run a little rough for a min when cold then it clears up . I had to replace the TPS and IAC this year already, so I doubt it is those.

Well, my new IAC was junk. Put in and OEM and problem solved.

I have run shorty headers on my 97 vortec 5.7 with noticeable seat of the pants improvement my 15 year old pacesetter headers finally gave out so I'm about to order a set of jba shorty headers $235 shipped on summit with egr hookup

Curious, did they stay tight? Headers are notorious for coming loose.

After getting headers you should check them periodically to make sure all the bolts are still tight.
