Hardly think anyone would keep the crappy amp or speakers if laying out $4k on a new head unit.

I have the x008u Alpine 8" in my Sierra. Very happy with the unit. Not sure a 2" larger screen is worth the price jump though. I went the Alpine route for the slightly larger screen and optical output for external amplifiers with optical input for better sound quality. At the time Alpine was the only option for optical. They have been making solid units for years, but they're always more expensive than the competition.

I agree. It's no surprise that these units are pushing the envelope in their cost. It is a conundrum as to why this latest 10" top of the line unit wouldn't have CarPlay and the android equivalent .

Frankly I'm not even sure what all the features are for those, but if I was buying a unit today I'd want it just to see if it was something I found useful.

I'm sure it's useful for those that want to mess around with their apps while driving, but I wouldn't use it. The 8" has everything I need. I'm good with having an hdmi input so you can use the cable to connect your phone and see what's on the phone if you want to watch a video.

I have been looking into this. Since the 10 inch was released Maestro also released the i-data link module and it seems you can use it on the X008U. So you could also retain much of the integration functions.

At the end of the day the only reason I can think to install an aftermarket HU is to get clean pre-amp outputs without taking the factory speakers outs and converting them. That or if you had a 4 inch screen.

I love how nice the 10 inch solution is, the price is just too much.

The first thing I had to do was get rid of that 4" screen. Night and day difference between that and the 8". The 10" would have seemed like overkill coming from the 4". I was one of the people testing the i-datalink module in the later stages. Very pleased with that piece. I ended up going with an Audison Bit Ten D to get a quality clean signal and control.

Actually they are $1299, I edited previous post

Crutchfield, ABT and pacific stereo have them online

The bose adapter cost me another $400

I bought it and the HU from crutchfield but I later found the bose adapter at amazon for $300

Will post pics soon and a video if I can figure out how to do it

Would love to see pics on this as I am strongly considering this as an upgrade to my 4" screen. I would also be adding a camera in the tailgate handle so am interested to hear how that work out.
