Weathertech- Not having a good experience.

Here's the email reply I received from Husky about making their "Gearbox" in other colors:

>>"Rick,

I do not think we would be offering a custom color for any models. Interior colors change frequently -- and there is not a universal tan or grey color that looks good with everything. Du-Ha does offer a universal grey and tan color but it would not match the Cocoa Dune that GM uses for the carpet color of the High Country.

Thanks for your interest!"<<

Aries Maxspider mats, hands down the best. They also look a lot better than putting rubber mats in your nice new truck.

Yeah.. Weathertechs don't live up to their 'custom fit' when the edges peel in like that. I may return mine too. They are serving a purpose as you can see though.

I just replaced the Aries 3D's with these Exact Fit mats. The coverage isn't as extensive but they wear like iron. They have a textured surface and no ridges to hang up on. The 3D's lasted about 1 1/2 years before wearing a hole where I rest my right heel.

Those aren't even floormats? Might be fine if you drive a car on dry paved roads.

I was a weathertech fan boy for years, but not when the 2014 mats came out, my buddy had a set and after seeing what crap they were compared to my 08 set I went to the Husky Xact contour. The molded thick rubber grooves hold the dirt better instead of just grinding it into the plastic and they fit great no moving around. Weathertech needs to quit advertising and spend some money upgrading their product.

For the guy looking for the underseat storage, I have a DU-HA in the brown color and it matches fine to the high country interior, I also have the black mats, its better than an off color of brown/tan.

I got the HUSKY X-Act liners for front and back and love them so far. They fit really well.

What, anything on that is just going to run to the edge and onto the carpet. Plastic wrap or a trash bag would have the same effect. OEM mats are better than those..

I have a set of these I am selling... bran new in the box.

I don't like that the rear mat covers the complete back of the cab: I have an under the seat cargo box and to clean the mats properly I have to remove the underseat storage... Too muck work for me.

I have the WeatherTech no-drill mud guards on my Sierra, easy install, only complaint is that the front guards cod have been made 2-4" longer to work as a mud guard should. Solved that issue by adding a piece of a universal-flat mud guards to both front WT guards.

To see my front mud guard modifications, go here, page 15, post # 224:

Had the Husky Weatherbeater liners for a very short time, what I didn't like is the front 3-piece set with the "over the hump" section was poorly designed in my opinion.

If you put the center hump liner in place so the left &right sides overlap the driver & passenger side floor liners, it would stick up which was in the way bye accelerator pedal-NOT safe. If you placed the center hump so it was between the driver & pass. liners, then if anything ran down the side of the "hump", it would go down between the other liners and get to the carpet defeating the purpose.

Decided to return them and went with the WeatherTech full front one-piece (no floor console) and it so far has worked well, no issues at all.

Also, when you install or remove those Husky Liners, be careful not to scratch the interior plastic trim as the bottom of those liners have some good carpet keepers!

Well I junked my WT front and rear mats today. I got tired of them being slippery when wet and the curling along the edges along with the passenger mat not staying in place. I went with the Husky x act fit and boy are they so much better.

What's the difference between the X-act fit and the Weatherbeaters?

Both look a little different. The X-act is more of a rubber like material. The weatherbeaters are like a molded plastic with some flex too it but similar to weathertech, just much better quality.

I have the weatherbeaters and full rear mat, honestly cant go wrong with either though.

Look at post 50 above for xact fit.

Look in my build thread for weatherbeaters.

I have the issue with the weathertechs too. The Velcro stickers that are used to hold the clips also don't hold for too long as well. I've just been lazy about calling WT to see what they will do. If nothing, then I'm going to look at the Huskies again. I do love my rear mat though. I like the full coverage that I get with it and it doesn't have any fitment issues.

Husky has a full rear mat as well.

    • Missing pieces of the Assembly   Detergency vs Solvency   Not the same thing. Detergency is the mechanism that surrounds solid particulates preventing amalgamation. Usually accompanied by a Dispersant whose job it is to keep those encapsulated particles in Suspension. Solvency keeps things that can be dissolved in solution.    Salt is a solid that can be dissolved. Pepper is a solid that cannot be dissolved. A detergent/dispersant is effective on pepper but a solvent is more effective on salt. As long as the solids remain in either state, dissolved or dispersed then they can be be removed with the oil upon change.    How many wranglers does it take to herd cats? Depends on how many cats your herding. How much sponge does it take to soak up water? How much water is there to soak up? Point is most oil blends start with some herding ability and next to zero sponge and recently even fewer wranglers are being sent to do the same job.    So you start with a dozen cowboys and zero cows but at the drive progresses you pick up cows along the way, but not cowboys. At some point you have more cows that the wranglers can handle and some leave the herd. Deposits. And the API has an acceptable number of cows they are willing to let loose. In the ideal world zero is the right number for he rancher but to the butcher....a few lost is fine. This cow is beat to death. Let's move on....   Solvency isn't something oils on the Walmart shelf care about AT ALL. Problem is, you motor does. Fuels driven varnish sticks rings and only a solvent can keep them in check. The bet is that the solids driven portion that plug the expander rings and the oil drain backs and VVT screens and AFM screens will be an issue long before varnish is. Not that it wont be but if they market well enough the consumer can be kept ignorant enough to either believe it is "normal" (A quart in 1 or 2K is normal) OR is kept at bay longer than the first owner is likely to hang on to the unit. Solvency cost money.    Now the OEM's have John Q. Public buffaloed into the belief that the number cows accumulated along the trail is a known and predictable CONSTANT. It isn't. Nor is the rate at which they crossed paths with them. Only the number of wrangles is constant. Or was. Each new generation of oil sees fewer and fewer of them.    So what happens when the number of cowboys is lower (lower TBN) with each seasons trail but the trial is longer (OCI) and the number of cows along that trail continues increase? (Conditions that promote deposits).    For awhile the blenders were on to something. Better bases are harder to degrade (fewer cows) but that was overtaken by a longer trail (OCI) and improved breeding (More cows) while continuing to reduce the cowboy staffing levels (TBN/Aniline #).    Marketing has been successful. We've fired most of the staff, cows breed line bunnies, the trail is ten times longer and we've convinced the boss his ranch is in better shape that it ever was.    That kids is just the cleaning side. The side few pay attention to.

    • Looking for this part for my truck. They don't sell just that one piece and to get it you have to pay over $100 even used for the whole air tube. The piece the hose clamp snaps into that is held on by the screw and nut. If anyone has access to one please let me know.
