AMP Powerstep remote deploy and on/off ability

Hey all, so with how much it's been raining here in Louisiana during this warm Christmas season, I have been thinking more and more about how to "remote" deploy my amp steps. I'm sure that anyone with the steps has been caught in the rain before and it seems like that 1 second it takes for the steps to open, is 10 seconds in the rain.

I'm trying to find a way so that when the truck is unlocked, the steps will deploy so that when you are running to the truck the steps are already there. I think it'd be a great mod but can't figure it out. Had a few hours to kill tonight and tried attatching it to a few wires that go to the lock/unlock system but no good :/

Another idea I had was making it so that I could have the steps on a switch that I can hide under the dash

If I can't make it so the steps will deploy when I unlock the truck, then maybe I can make it so they stay deployed while I'm away. This way if it's pouring down rain I can deploy the steps before opening the door (of course I'd have to be in the truck) then the steps would stay deployed until you get back in the truck and flip the switch. At which point they would go back to normal operation

If anyone has ANY insight to either let me know pls!

My steps deploy faster than I can get the door open wide enough to get in.

Should be pretty easy to make it work like you want tho',

Call the guys at Amp and ask? They may be able to speed deployment.

Otherwise, perhaps you can use the wires in the driver side kickplate loom that trigger with the locks - see the Pop N Lock instructions that use the lock wiring?

IIRC, PNL also suggest avoid using a certain kind of multi meter on the wire loom so as not to short out your ECM or other item.

I actually just shot them an email. Always end up not thinking of things like this until companies close, Just my luck I guess lol

Should be very simple, just need a relay with constant power, unlock input trigger and output to the amp trigger (if you have plug and play I think the PnP module list what each wire in the module functions)

A latching relay? They basically basically move a switch inside the relay so you don't need constant power to keep the relay closed. So the unlock signal could latch it then the lock could be used to unlatch I would imagine. They are made in many forms, I did a quick search and even saw that there are timed latching relays. I have never used one but it seems like this could be an option.

If it was raining that much you might just jump in before the steps lower?
