Thoughts on supercharger for 5.3

The comments on YouTube say that truck is a 5.3. The 8 psi numbers they lay down with the Escalade look pretty decent. If a person deleted afm and added some stiffer valve springs and cranked up the boost some more it could get to be a lot of fun.

You can make just as much power as a 6.2 if you are willing to put in the $$$ a blower cam and custom tune with headers, head work, LTs 3" exhaust all the goodies 93 octane could hit 550ish HP if not more you can pully down a whipple pretty easy for more boost.....

Injectors could be a limitation from my research

Eventually... but by the time you blow the money on ported heads, cam, parts, and blower.... it's more than that turbo kit in the first place.

Primary reason I am not looking at turbos is sound and space. Turbos have a lot of plumbing. They also have a distinct sound that I just don't care for. Whipple has the best "kit" out there for our trucks right now, but I really want a Maggie. Better low end torque and quieter at idle.

For anyone wondering the HPE500 package for a 5.3L from Hennessey runs $13,700

SCA Performance pulls 571 HP with the Whipple on the Black Widow with the 6,2!

Same HP from a 5.3 on a whipple...

That is FAR from just a supercharger install!!!

That is not the point.... The point is that you can get a 5.3 to 6.2 level performance.... Just all on how much you are willing to spend ;)

Back when I was looking in 12/31/13 my Texas edition 14 GMC was 14K cheaper than the cheapest 6.2 I was comparing with just few added upgrades. I did a little more checking the 5.3 on e85 was within 40 HP of the 6.2 and I could use any fuel not just 93 like the 6.2. Then if I wanted to s/c the 5.3 the money I saved would cover the upgrade . Or just tune the truck and your there, 15K saved. Maybe it's different with the newer trucks, GM just needs to wise up and offer the 6.2 in all trims like RAM.

Straight up. The best educated response this thread has. Tired of the nut hugging 6.2 owners claiming there's no way a 5.3 owner CAN POSSIBLY get close to the sheer excitement from 0.9L more of displacement. "It's really the last old school corvette motor".. GIVE ME A ****IN BREAK MAN.

The 5.3L has the greatest flexibility from the factory. If someone wants a bare bones V8 short wide, they can get it with a 5.3... Good luck on finding a base model with the 6.2. If someone can find their dream spec truck with the 5.3 below $40k... Guess what? I got that. The 6.2 $10,000 off sticker? NOPE.

If there was a shop in the area I could trust with my DD, I'd have a 2.9L whipple, cam, long tube headers, and 4.10 gears on my rig. And I'd still have less in it than you guys paying $55k (otd) for your 6.2L SLT.

Um there are a ton of people that have gotten 10k or more off msrp on a slt/ltz 6.2. I do understand your point but just to be clear that is very common. And i own a 5.3 right now so not one of the people you speak of.

Alright, sub $40k otd current model year... $10k off $70k sticker is not the same as $10k off $50k sticker

Actually it is still 10k off but yes completely different prices. I have yet to see a 70k 6.2. Most are in the 50s so easily in the 40s after discounts.
