2016 Sierra Denali Headlight Shadow problem

I just got the my new truck and was looking forward to the new headlights and to my surprise I hate them so far, They are very bright which is a plus but a ton of shadows on low and high beam and by biggest complaint is a 2 or 3 foot dividing shadow line that is in between the high and low beam that runs all the way across and is on both sides when projected on the highway. As you drive you see this dark shadow band bouncing up and down as you hit bumps. I did pull up to a building about 100 ft away and projected the headlights on it and you can see a band about 2 in wide all the way across across between high and low beam. I called the dealer to see if this is normal and they said would try to duplicate it with another Denali and make some calls to GM ... Is anybody else have any experience with the new headlights...Is this normal for the new headlights or do you think I have a problem..If it was just one side I would say its a problem but on both sides I don't know . My old truck was a 2014 HighCountry

I think this is a product of the projector beams. You can adjust them up a little and it will extend the line out but too much and it will blind other drivers. I'm not a fan of the projects because of this and the way they work. All the brights seem to do it light up the trees up high, they are not any brighter than the lows.

*sigh* :banghead: Here we go again. More GMC headlight woes. Do you think GMC even road tests new headlight designs before they go into production? If the 2014's are any example, I would think they don't.

Sorry to hear. Hopefully they'll find a way to get it sorted.

You're not kidding! 14+ GMC lights are pretty bad. I too was hoping the new 16 lights would be better. Guess I'll have to see (or not, hahahahah) for myself.

To be fair, I am a light nut, usually put daylighters on all prior trucks relayed on the highs, except the 07-13 GMC lights were fantastic, didn't need anything.

So one person complains on a forum about the headlights and now they all suck. Typical forum logic at its finest here.

My 2016 SLT does the same thing. Normal and after awhile I don't even notice it.

That's what I am thinking this is the norm for GM...........best lights I ever had was on my 2012 Sierra Denali and I swapped out the headlight bulbs and put in the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra and they were great. Maybe soon there will be some plug and play aftermarket bulbs that will preform better than the factory ones.....I will post back Monday after I talk to dealer and see what they found out.

Zero complains about my 16 headlights in mine. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

My 16 lights are far brighter than my 14 Silv LTZ. Maybe you should get your eyes checked ???

Zero complaint on my 14 SLT. I wouldn't mind swapping to an HID but haven't been bothered by the factory output. Projector head lights do have a horizontal line that is pronounced. It's a little bit odd at first but you will get used to it. Are you able to see when you drive?? If not then it's a problem. Nice truck though..

I have a 2016 SLT with the same problem. It seems to be something separating the bulb or something inside the lens when you use the high beams. There's definitely a separation of light that is significantly noticeable when it projects at night. I'd like to know if it's a defect or what. Hard to complain when it's miles better than the other lights that came with the '14 and '15's.
