New 2016 info

Hi Guys,

I have a 2014 crew cab 4x4 sle Z71 and was thinking of trading it for a 16 Silverado......basically the same truck but went for a LTZ with no Z71.Rather would have the chrome grille, but to my big surprise the 16 are 6-8000.00$ bucks more money.

They are giving me 32 grand for my truck, 10 grand over what I owe.To cut a story short, I would start all over for about a little more payment for 5 years again!!!!

Just wondering if it is that same thing in the USA on the price rise....And this is for a double cab.

Thanks for your reading! GH

LTZ is a higher trim level your SLE.

LTZ compares with SLT.

Options on any trim level can make a significant difference in price.

Canadian base price on double cab SLT is about $9000 more than on SLE.

DC SLT base is a little more than LTZ.

SLT has a lot of stuff 'standard' that is optional on SLE.

LT silverado is a closer comparision to the sle.

You can 'build and price' the different versions at Gm.ca

Truck for truck, option for option mine would go up $1240 for a '16.

Thanks for the reply Red, I learned that in a hurry..lol! But my 14, is sle with bucket seats,( heated) with lots of options the MSRP in 2014 was 49 900$. But you are right, slt is a 2000$ upgrade. Still was surprised the MSRP on a 16 is 55-57 000$.......The dealer still ordered a truck we built and I have no pressure to buy once it is in.

Again thanks for your feedback! gh

Tbarn,

That sounds reasonable, the thing that I don't feel like doing is signing into another 5 year commitment!!!Lol! Thanks for your input sir!

Then lease it for three years. Or don't buy one and be happy with what you have.

Just don't forget you get a shorter warranty with the 2016. But since your current truck is already 2 years the warranty difference may not matter in your case ...

I read another post that stated the same thing your sayin', checked here in Canada it's still 3 years- 60 000 kms and 5 years-160000 kms(powertrain)...correct me if I'm wrong!!!!!!

Canadian warranty did not change and the 2 year comp oil changes increased to 4 over 48,000km instead of 4 over 40,000km for 16 models

Thanks ridersfan, I wasn't a 100% shure if I seen that or not......But I had read a US member sayin' their warranty had been shorten.

Thanks for your reply!!!! GH

If you want to deal, sell your existing truck on your own and take cash to dealer.

There is more money made on used cars than new cars.

My dealer told me they send 50 t0 60% of their trade ins to the USA because of our pathetic loonie

Is that because it is called a loonie?

Same thing happened the last time the $ was this low.

US buyers are more gunshy this time to come to Canada for a truck than last time our dollar was so low. Yes, trucks are still heading south... but it's primarily dealer to dealer. Besides, most provinces you only pay sales taxes on the difference, so it may well still be cheaper to trade than sell your own and deal for cash.

(I'm one of those dealers that's been shipping trades off to the US)
