Both my note 5 and my note 8 work very well

 

That's surprising. My S7 Edge won't fit, even without the case. And according to the internet the Note 8 should be 1 or 2 mm wider.

 

I'll have to take my case off and try again.

Yeah it fits/works great. My note 5 fit/worked as well, and that's wider than the note 8

correct. I don't use one. Someone installed a more powerful charger underneath though, and claims they could fit a pencil between the phone and pad and still had it charge
