Can't decide between a double or crew!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I was thinking of trading my crew 14' for either a 16' crew again or double cab..... both are LTZ. Leaning at a double, but wondering if I won't regret if I go there after having a crew????

I went from a super duty crew to a double cab WOW this thing is small! That being said I test drive both with the family. My kids are 7 & 8. They both fit just fine. When this lease is up ill go back to a crew of whatever brand I go with. I guess my advice is to bring who it whatever you haul around and test drive in a simulated real world situation. If we would have packed everyone in with cat seats and gear and the kids or wife said it wasn't going to work I would have went with the crew cab. Either way I could not do the short box on the crew it would have to be a standard 6'6" still.

I my self went with a double cab. I have a 4 and a 7 year old and they fit fine. I like the bigger bed and it still fits in my garage. Plus my wife has an Acadia if we need more room.

I had a similarly difficult decision. I ended up going with the crew cab and short bed over the double cab standard bed because I have the need to seat 4 comfortably more than I need that extra 1ft of bed. It really depends on what your needs are.

FWIW resale is going to be a little better on crew cabs too.

Does it matter to you where it's made ? The DC is made in the U.S. ! The only thing that might be a problem for me is that I'm not sure a dog crate will fit in the back.

It depends on what your needs are. There is a noticeable between the 2. I picked the double because I don't really need a Crew and since having my '14 ever since late April of '14 I think I've only had 1 person sit in the back seat. At the time it was also hard to find (and probably still is) to find a Crew with the standard 6 1/2' bed and I didn't want to sacrifice bed length. Also I need a full size tool box so I need at least a standard 6' or bigger bed. Plus at the time a Crew short bed was about $5K more than a Double so I didn't feel the need to spend that much more on a truck when I don't need a Crew. Plus I came from a 98 Z71 Extended Cab so for me the Double Cab was still an upgrade. If you have older kids or adults that will be riding in the back (especially on a regular basis) then get a Crew.

My kids are all grown up....lol I use the back as big closet( avid hunter) in my last truck I mayby had 10 passengers in 3 years. The double works for my budget better and as I stated I have a crew and the smaller back is different( size). Here in Canada they're asking about 3 grand more the crew.

In that case I would not spend more for the crew cab. The double with the doors that open normally are good size the seat flips up easily. I have had adult passengers in the back of my double for a couple hour trip. They fit ok so if you had to you could. Plus you get the standard size bed without having to even think about it. Just pick your color and options and you can get them anywhere.

I went with the crew as I have a search dog and needed the room for her and my gear, that and the crew has a practically flat floor so my dog is not laying across any humps. Fits two adults with plenty of room too. I think I have more room in the back than I did with the back seat out of my wrangler..

I was torn on the same cab configuration . I went with the crew and 6 1/2 ft bed . Glad I did. Resale is better and more room. Plus the LTZ is so nice you will want to drive people around in it !

I may be alone on this but I find the DC sportier looking than the CC ...

I like the DC for a bit easier plowing snow & pulling u-turns & parking (about 9" smaller iirc)

and the DC cost less

The CC is definitely better for a family - not my case

crew cab all the way - you will regret not having the extra room, and it does have better resale value someday. If you have passengers in the back seat, they will appreciate the extra leg room. I actually think the CC looks better and someday if/when you lift it, it will definitely look better!

My deliberations on this same dilemma resulted in me purchasing a CC standard box. No regrets at all. I've never thought that I wished I had a shorter box or smaller cab! I agree with others that this is also a very good looking combination.
