factory wheels/tires takeoffs rediculously priced

i have the cheap 17'' aluminum wheels on my wifes le. I want some of the nice chrome style like on the Silverado or the danlai aluminum ones are real nice.

lots of people change the rims on their trucks.

so why are wheels tires from the factory so dang expensive. I can buy a wheel tire cobo aftermarket for half what I find for sale as takeoffs...

trying to get the upgrade money back? insurance deals?

what gives...2800 for 22''ss rims...1800 for denali with tires..common ..really

It's all about market demand. If you try to go buy those snazzy GMC All-Terrain wheels from the dealership, they will set you back 2k+ for the wheels alone. Enough people take them off, but not near as how many want them for their truck. This creases a low supply and high demand which artificially increases the price relative to aftermarket options. It's also because they are so expensive new-OEM, people use that as a benchmark for the price and reduce based upon wear/age.

My dad gets Takeoffs for next to nothing off WT and LT trucks.

The high end takeoffs are expensive because of their OEM new prices and the demand. In a couple years, the price drops pretty quickly.

Either buy someone's takeoffs or just get aftermarket. I honestly don't like rims bigger than 18" unless the tire is maybe a 44" or bigger than a 20 is fine. It's just demand. People want 20s and 22s from the factory on trucks so they gave that option.

Takeoff wheels and tires sets are not priced that high in my area; they're usually $1k to $1.5k. IMO they're still pricy, but I run HRE wheels on mine so I can't really say they're expensive.

im in Myakka city fl. I don't really care bout the 20's per say. it just seems like those are the cool one. 18s would work as well. im not a fan of the short sideway..my dodge has 16'' rims with 38's on em..

anyhow for the cost ill probly get something aftermarket..or just wait til the ones we got are bald..cuz 2k for stk wheel an tires that are just sittin in someones shed that they took off and aren't ever gonna us is just silly.

id go 1k or 1200 even with tires if theyre brand new takeoffs but common.

btw whats the deal on the sensors. they inside the tire on the rim or in the valvestem? they truck matched?

Try eBay. 18" takeoffs run 1000-1500 and that is complete (tires, wheels, tpms, and sometimes lugs).

When I had to replace a wheel on my 2014 All Terrain the retail was almost $600 for the wheel along with a $50 core charge. I got mine out the door for $500, the wifes Audi wheel was $1100 per wheel. The wheels on my 2008 Corvette were almost $2k per wheel (factory forged wheel) and my 2009 G8 GXP were $1500 each (factory forged wheel).

So yes wheels are expensive for sure. If I ever had to replace my entire set I would be making a call to CCW for a custom CNC set of wheels.

Lmao people complaining about price on the higher end wheels. Have you ever priced out a headlight? Just one side from GM. If you can't afford the wheels when you get the truck just get aftermarket there's no sense putting high country rims on a WT or LS. The prices are based off what GM sells them for, why would someone take them off and get new rims and just give them away for nothing?

The takeoffs are more expensive than aftermarket because they are higher quality. Most aftermarket wheels are more universal than direct fit with multiple stud holes and hub rings that break or fall off and cause issues with vibrations and wheel tightness. Besides if you are patient you will find a set of 20's for 600 like I did (it only took a year)

Still waiting for the day people realize the difference between a wheel and a rim...

So there are officially two of us in this world!
