Terrible inconsistent shifts. Loud clunky when shifting. Just sounds overall like there is a significant amount of backlash throughout the transmission. Only time she's quiet or smooth is close to or w.o.t....update gm field rep called me today to offer to replace trans. Sadly after a year of b.s. Lost time. No rental car. Hours on the phone with gm executive offices I'm pretty done. I believe they are trying to hinder me from arbitration. It seamed like he was gathering evidence to use against me as he would admittedly be the person gm would send to the arbitration hearing on their behalf. Once I told him I usta have a duramax he kept pushing me like I was really unhappy with gas truck and that I had wished I bought another diesel. As if that's why I was asking for trade in assistance. I can tell you nothing is farther from the truth. 420 ponies. 26 mpg on highway. I am happy as shit on pig with this smooth quiet truck. BUT...this transmission is a p.o.s. and I don't believe they got it right.

I understand your frustration but what are you out if they swap the transmission? That way at arbitration you can say you tried everything including a new tranny and it's still an issue.

In my mind it's a better option and covers your bases fully.

I get it, you're frustrated as hell, but what's another week or so to be sure if you like the truck otherwise? Make them give you a sweet loaner as part of the deal.

Miweber929 your right. I thought about it and decided to have it done. Either way it proves there was an issue. In new York they have 4 Chances to repair which I have but a fifth with major component replacement I got a lock fixed or not.

Just got back from a 4000mi trip

Towed an 8000# camper for 2500mi of the trip

Transmission is the best performing auto I have ever experienced towing

Put camper in storage till our spring trip, so ride back to NY was just us and the truck.

Could not be happier with this vehicle, the more miles it gets the better it performs.

Trans has learned how I drive, and works very well.

I think something has changed or been "fixed" on the 2017's. My 2017 has been flawless so far..not one shake, shudder or slam between gears like my 2016 had...It is literally the smoothest shifting trans I have driven, not kidding. Hopefully it stays this way (1100 miles now). It has shifted great since day 1, no "learning curve" needed. Time will tell..but I'm very pleased so far.

Allegedly this trans I'm getting Monday has more updates than a 17 that's on the lot. Thats right from detroit.I'm cautiously optimistic . Again I'm happy to hear people are loving and enjoying their new trucks.

I recently read an article about the 8 and 10 speed transmissions across ALL manufacturers....not good. Apparently they are all having issues with the added gears. Not just a GM issue. Foreign and domestic brands. I'll try to dig it back up and post a link. But...just a little food for thought, although it sucks to have issues, the other sides of the fence, in every direction, are having the same problems.

I can say first hand no issues yet on Nissan new 7 speed. Magic number?

the 7 speed in my old c63 was the best auto trans I ever drove.

Dropped truck off this morning for trans replacement. What a very different situation. I was greeted properly. I was offered breakfast. Was given Denali loaner. Very different when you start a buyback case. We'll see how it goes from here.

I just started to notice a shutter on my truck driving it the other day. about 15,500 miles and just noticed it. 6.2 8 spd.

i've have my truck in for a transmission software update and relearn for the harsh clunking when cold going in to drive or reverse. This helped quite a bit and I was pretty happy with the truck up until now.

I will be cruising down the highway, no load, cruise set at 70 - and I can watch the rpms fluctuate about 100 rpms or so. Every time the tach needle rises a tad (consistently every 3 seconds or so) there is a crazy shutter (steering wheel and dash vibrates).

Sounds like torque converter from what I've read so far in this thread?

Def converter. Noticed mine on way home from purchase. Do it sooner than later. It pollutes the whole trans with metal.

Dang :( thank god I'm under full warranty still. Truck is going in this Thursday. Thanks for the input.

Make sure they do full flush. When they did mine they filled new converter and slapped it in. Only 3 quarts of fluid were billed on my r.o....also had fluid dripping from bellhousing for couple weeks. Bulletin calls for 8 quarts.
