No more aux battery tray for 2016

Has anyone added the extra battery to their 2016 1/2 ton truck? I had the Painless digital manager system in my 2008 and want to transfer it to my 2016 but the driver's side tray is no longer set up to take a battery. It is now just a support for the computer box and washer tank with no fixings for a battery. I'm looking at trying to fit a tray from 2014 truck but looks like it will need some cutting and still might not fit due to the washer tank neck. Anybody work out a better solution yet? Darn engineers with their weight/space penny pinching... :sigh:

I have the double cab, not crew. No BigBad they didn't take it out, it's still a very similar tray there but with no threaded nut or catch lip for mounting a battery. The GM parts catalog lists it simply as "Tray Assembly" not "Battery Tray" like before.

Does the HD parts list show the pieces necessary to hold the battery to the new tray?

All dmax trucks still have two batteries.

Funny, my first post in 8 years and it's about the battery tray. Just got back from parts department and they told me that 2016 does NOT have a battery tray. Just a place holder for other parts. 2014 will not fit into 2016, we did try that and it will need to be modified and drilled. 2014 and 2016 are different part numbers. Look's like Iam going to have to get creative.

I did look at the parts list for a 2016 dmax. It shows the same part# 25826079 that apparently will not fit a 1500.

Now you've go my curiosity up. I might have to go look under the hood of a 16 Dmax and compare it to my 5.3.

Battery, schmattery........ great for keeping the McDonald's or White Castle burgers warm until you get home. My only complaint is it's too small for a pizza.

This is awesome, gonna have to do this now just to say I did. :driving:

Problem solved.

The Chevrolet provided TRAY is strong enough to handle a battery.

It only took less than ten dollars for parts and drilling a single hole.

Parts from my local AutoZ….. Not sure if I can say their name.

Part No’s 06061 and 0200 Battery Hold downs by Lynx.

I took the TRAY out for the necessary drilling. Drilling location is your choice. I used the original hole location for the battery tie down as one. The other one was located on the other side of the battery by the window washer neck. That’s the one I drilled. DO NOT try and drill with the TRAY still in the vehicle. AKA my disclaimer “You are responsible for your own mods”. The rest should be straight forward. Look at the pictures.

Sorry see next post for picture

Thanks for the pics. That looks like a good way to do it, but also gives me more ideas too.
