No more aux battery tray for 2016

Here is a PDF for the SSV Silverado. Just including the single page of the PDF with the picture of the aux battery. Looks pretty clean to me. May talk to my dealer to see if they can find out the part numbers.

That looks interesting. No wonder my truck is was so expensive...what with all the specialized equipment R&D that was required for these "special" vehicles. I'm always amazed by the complicated parts matrix for basically the same GM vehicle.

Additionally, this is the company that does the upfitting after the vehicle leaves the factory to be turned into an SSV if I am not mistaken.

So I've spoken with two parts departments. One seems to think simulating the SSV setup would require programming which they wouldn't be able to do since GM won't allow programming for standard options similar to upsizing tires. So he thinks he could duplicate the parts but not the programming. If they are truly using an isolator I don't see why programming would be involved. I've emailed Kerr to find out if the dual battery setup is part of the upfit or if it comes to them that way from the factory. I've also gotten a print out showing the battery tray but appears to have a slight difference that includes a lip to hold down one side of the battery and the hold down. It doesn't include part numbers. I'll try to post it later.

I did look at the parts list for a 2016 dmax. It shows the same part# 25826079 that apparently will not fit a 1500.

I'm curious where you looked up the part #. The number I keep coming up with is 22989633 for the Aux battery tray. It appears to be the same for the 1500, 2500, and 3500. The number you quoted looks like the main battery tray to me but I could be wrong. I'll post the print out the dealer gave me today later when I can scan it at home. The tray looks almost if not identical to the one I have currently but clearly mine isn't setup to take a battery. I wish I could look at a few side by side to see the actual difference.

So here is what I've come up with so far... I looked at three trucks today including my own. my 2016 and a 2015 had identical trays which are NOT functional. But I also looked at a 2014 which appears to have identical mounting points and IS functional. I'm including a PDF of the sheet I got from the dealer today but I'm starting to question it's accuracy. The image with the white paint is a friends 2014 1500. The image with the dark paint is my 2016 Tungsten LTZ Z71 1500. If I can find part numbers for the 2014 images I'll post them. As a last resort I'm considering trading my friend my tray for his since I know he will never use it.

Not sure about the picture of part# 25826079 on gmpartsdirect since that is the number taken directly off the aux batt tray from a 2014 truck we have at work which doesn't have the same bolt pattern or the indention for the washer bottle mount. The two you have pictured above are also slightly different around edge by the washer bottle but should swap okay. There should be a part# on the white truck stamped into it somewhere and if you find it, please post. Thx. I wonder why they put so many different shapes and configurations out there??

So I went to my dealer at lunch. The same part number listed for a 14 is what is listed for my 16. We even looked at a 14 on the lot and and checked by VIN. The 14 on the lot had the tray we are looking for but came up as the same part number on the computer. I have ordered the part along with the bolt and the retainer. I can tell you that unless the flange (circled in red) at the top of the photo is welded to the tray it is a separate piece but we are hoping it comes as part of the tray. There are only two differences in the photos above. The 14 has a threaded hole (circled in blue) to allow for the bolt that goes through the retainer and the 14 also has the additional piece of metal (circled in red that could either be separate or welded on). As soon as I get the parts I'll verify they are what we are looking for and that they fit once I get them installed. I will say the cheap way would be to find someone with a 14 and swap trays. Then the only thing you would need to buy is the retainer and bolt.

On a separate note my dealer wasn't sure if the SSV police version came from the factory with the dual setup or was upfitted by Kerr. Kerr has yet to reply to my email. The only way to know for sure would be a response from Kerr or to get a VIN off a 2016 SSV Silverado. They did say if programming was involved GM would not allow it since it wasn't an official option for consumer Silverado's. I'd love to know how they are isolating the second battery.

Anyway. Hope my parts get here soon and I will let everyone know. As an FYI they are the same parts listed in the diagram @morrislee posted. I was hesitant to post part numbers until I could verify (hands on) that they were what we are looking for.

You would have to order with a 2014 2015 VIN I think.

I just spoke to my parts department. They are waiting on one part but they think the tray looks to be the correct tray for holding a battery. Once I have it in hand I'll confirm.

It definitely fits! A little cumbersome to install. Took 10 minutes maybe. One screw is difficult to get to.

I put a 250 Amp/hr(?) deep cycle in there with an isolater and ran a wire to use it as my rear power since I tailgate/camp in the truck bed. Worked out great plus if I ever need I can jump start myself (or someone else more easy). I was going to use it to also hook up an LED lightbar so was on a separate power source but no need of that now.

What are you using yours for OP?

The tray part number listed is for 2016 trucks without dual batteries, GM made a change.

And yes, diesels have dual batteries.
