When the truck is quiet it's such a pleasant vehicle to be inside. When it ticks it is like someone is tapping an ice pick into my brain. 

What’s pretty silly is that General Motors still has a customer base after selling so many of these ticking, clunking, rough riding bastards. I don’t care if this is fixed when I start my truck in the morning and I never have another problem. GM has blatantly ignored issues with bandaid fixes and I have no desire to give them another penny.

Hahaha.. Don't worry, we'll find it.. 

All i can say is I'm glad its not a complete engineering failure. I'd be really pissed if it was some kind of safety concern, or a mechanical disaster.. 

Our 2011 equinox! I'm so glad gm owned up to all the problems. 

Basically had to rebuild the whole motor - after warranty.

Ha, I just picked up a 95% rust free 88 Dodge D250. It has AC and Cruise control and is pretty darn quiet inside/rides about as good as this truck. For about 3000-4000 bucks I can toss in a spare overdrive trans I have and add EFI with a freshened up 360. Should make 350-400 ft/lbs and tow pretty well.

 

5000 dollar truck that doesn't tick seems like a pretty good option right now.

Has anybody replaced the water pump? Mine has some play in the pulley I'm told is normal. I'm not buying it.

Seems like we're getting close. I wasn't buying into the tick being related to temperature, but as summer temps have gone and it has been generally cooler, the tick has been less frequent. I swear it was constant all summer

So what do we know. Its not vaccum pump or catalytic converters. Must either be in trans, fuel systems, mechanical in top end, pulley or water pump. Still see pretty far away. Be easier to just replace truck lol

Just got this from a buddy at my local dealer. Looks like Chevy is aware and they are working on a fix.

This coincides with the tempirary steering wheel turn fix someone posted the other day. I sent this to my service manager on my truck to get his thoughts.

Sweet, thanks for posting this. I highly doubt it will be covered under power train warranty if this is the case but I am still going to try and get my truck in to document it before my PT warranty expires in a week. 

 

This weekend I rotated my tires, while I was at it I pulled the inner fender out of the truck and tried to see if I could get a better look at anything on that side. Everything looked fine but I tugged around pretty good on the steering boot and my noise seems to be much quieter all weekend. Still there and acts the same with bumps but much quieter. 

 

Side note, my truck just ate another bushing for the soft lower tailgate. The dealer put in a new one less than 8 months ago. I don't really load anything heavy on the tailgate. Mostly carry tools and ski gear on the weekends.
