Buying a New 2015 Siverado?

If you like the truck, I would treat this as a used low mileage vehicle and negotiate accordingly. I doubt that you would have any difficulty getting a yearend 2016 for the deal you were offered and truly have a new truck!

Still new if it hasn't been titled yet. As in if it was used as a demo or dealership loaner. Which also means if you buy one of them the warranty doesn't start (date and mileage) until you sign the papers. You'd be surprised at some of the "new" vehicles a dealership might have. I've seen them have as old as 3 years and still less than 10 miles on it and that's from test driving.

I would pass on the 2015, go for a 2016 -2017.

800 miles is a demo vehicle, which is still considered a new car from a sales point as its "untitled", but it starts warranty time stamp when it was used, ask me how I know. You might already be ticking 2 years on warranty so only 12 months left, you need to investigate more, so if they started warranty its NOT a good deal.

2014-2015 headlights suck.(op for the LED's if you go 2016+)

2016+ seats are more comfortable.

Apple Car Play is awesome, or Android auto (can be added by our venders for any K2xx truck)

Look at it from this perspective, if the OP were to buy this truck and title it, at that very minute, the truck would be worth the value of a low mileage 2015, probably somewhere 20-25% the value off MSRP, so he should negotiate accordingly. As for the semantics of being new, our trucks are not collectors models and are always depreciating whether sitting in your garage or sitting on the dealer lot. This truck has been exposed to weather for well over a year and has been driven around, it's not new. For all we know, this truck could have frame rust from just sitting around on the dealer lot, who cares whether it's been titled or an MCO has been issued by GM at that point, it's got wear and tear. The dealer would surely treat the truck as used if you drove it off the lot and brought it back with 800 miles on it if you were trying to trade it back in.

Well you didn't say new price (assume you mean after rebates and all), you just said new. Plus nobody isn't say to pay MSRP. If you don't get a brand new truck with 1 mile on it for MSRP tand can generally get at least $5K or more off with no problem then there's no reason to say that a "new" truck with 800 miles won't get new price.

The 2015's still have the 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty - something to keep in mind. I'd say $30,000 is a reasonable price for the truck, if you like it.

So a local dealer has a brand new 2015 Silverado on the lot. Crew cab. 4wd. LT w/ Z71 package. Has like 800 miles. MSRP was $49k. Dealer with incentives is at $39k. What's a good price for this truck? While its new, it's actually 2 years old.

heck no... picked up a GMC AT with 12 miles... .sticker 53k, with incentives... 39k..... . try and talk em down.. thats nuts for a 15..

I bought my 2016 Sierra SLT just over a month ago. MSRP was 56,220. I paid 40,210 OTD. The deal you are being offered sucks for a '15. That explains why they still have it on the lot.

I was looking at new trucks a couple months ago but then decided I didn't want to pay high 30's for a truck with cloth seats.

Ended up looking at cars.com

Found a '14 black all-terrain with a 6.2 with 22k miles listed for 33,900, got it for $33k.

It is sooooo much nicer than all the new silverado LT's I test drove. More fun to drive, more luxurious, and just looks bad-ass. I will never regret that decision.

Oh sale price is 39k with incentives,I don't think they will sell it in low 30's cause used ones are going for that.I still agree with Most on here that go for a 16 or 17.Although I like the 15 front end,just as much as the 16 your still better off shopping around and see if you can get in a 16.The year is ending and you might find a really Good deal you won't regret,we all think we are keeping our trucks till they rot out but facts are most will trade them in sometime.Newer body styles are always in higher demand.I also think that manufacturers are always tweaking things along the way or at least I hope so.2014 to 2016 Im sure they made slight changes to prevent issues that popped up since 2014,as the seat belt recall,headlight issues,apple play lag,and electronic some issues will not be shared with pubic.Not to offend owners just my 2 cents.

Try low 30s or walk. I walked as the price up here has gone totally stupid and I won't high 40's for cloth seat junk when I paid mid 40's in the end of 2015 for a loaded 15 6.2 truck. The dollar is the factor here but still. There is a likely a reason they still have the truck after this long.

Whats the blue/blackbook. If you are paying 1c more than the high value there you just got swindled. If you have not looked that up by now just stop and seek help because that should be the very first thing you do and it takes about 30 seconds.

Fact is it is NOT new. The only people who think so are those selling it. You can tell the salesmen to buy it himself if he thinks it is new. It is only new or used in the eyes of the purchaser. You can tell him flat out that 800 miles or 5k miles it does not matter when it comes to BB value. If they do not like that tell them to sit and spin because that is essentially what they are telling you.

Bias aside, I don't think the issues are any different.

Seat belt - don't know, but it's a recall, free fix

Headlights - Just had the factory TSB completed, anybody who says they are not adequate after the TSB bulb upgrade is full of it or just wants it to look like a new mercedes. I now get just as much if not more light output than the '17 acura rdx with LED headlights that my wife just picked up as a loaner

'14's don't have apple play - so no issue with lag lol, I'm not sure how much better apple car play is, I still play pandora right from my truck screen

A manufacturer definitely wouldn't fix any issues in the '15, they are rolling off the production line before any issues are even discovered. If there are any issues they would likely be fixed at '16. They don't really have any issues though, and certainly not any top secret issues.

IMO I read all the problems people have in the forums, maybe more than you, and I can assure you there are no secret problems with the '14. What real problems our trucks do have, are drivetrain related. They certainly have not been addressed. I'm not sure they are really problems at all and are just noises we don't like to hear.

'15 introduced the 8 speed, '16 introduced the headlights. Those are the only significant changes that mean anything.

If you plan on modding, I'd go with the '15+ 8 speed, stock I'd go 6 speed. While I'd rather have the 8speed and the new headlights, if they were both magically offered to me fully installed for $2k, I'd have to think about it. The difference between the '14 and the '16 is a whole lot more than $2k.

I really don't think you are going to see much of a real world difference at all between '14 - '17. Any real changes will be made with the '18 or '19 refresh
