I work in manufacturing we are always making products better never tell the customer, sell it as same product same price as we see see possible issues although no complaints.I work for a water meter company not complex at all but we find better ways to make better product although it looks the same.

When we find a tap hole not deep enough,or thread percent is not to print it is corrected without a newes headline as that would lose business, new die is made as old one still runs cause of demand but quality is bad only seen by us.

For those going on about the headlights its a Silverado..... their lights actually never were an issue stock as it was just the GMC with the single peehole in the snow bulb arrangement. Up until 2016 the Silverado has a separate high and lowbeam bulb and they are fine....

If there were water meter forums with 1000's of users that have a good understanding of water meters, users that considered their water meter one of their most prized material possessions; there's a pretty good chance the problems and solutions would not go unnoticed.

I think you got more than enough responses, most saying low $30K. Maybe instead of us playing the guessing game on what you want to pay, let us know what you're willing to offer and we can offer a better answer? I would offer $30K and go from there if you are really interested.

Just to clarify. The offer isn't 39k. That's their asking less incentives. Haven't even discussed pricing with them in depth yet as I'm trying to figure out what I should be targeting for.

I just bought a 2015 SLE Double cab that had 28 miles on it, probably a few test drives. MSRP was $49,500 with packages included, price paid was $39,000, but they gave me $3500 above KBB trade in so I figured I was getting it for around 22-23% less than sticker.

Reset the odometer,2 year service,5yr/100K and added park assist, power rear window, power heated seats on both sides, undercoating, upgraded console, navigation, spray in liner, step tubes, chrome tow and chrome exhaust tip to options I had before.

Seemed "OK", and I don't like to haggle.

800 miles is a lot of test drives, might have been a loaner. You can get them to come down on that price. I guarantee they don't want 2015s around when 2017s are arriving. I bet you can get it for $35 pretty easily, but think they'll walk away from Silverado Steve's $30K price.

Reset the odometer?!?! I hope you are joking or mean something different as that is highly illegal and that dealership should not be in business if you are serious.

You can literally do time for this see below.

Still new if it hasn't been titled yet. As in if it was used as a demo or dealership loaner. Which also means if you buy one of them the warranty doesn't start (date and mileage) until you sign the papers. You'd be surprised at some of the "new" vehicles a dealership might have. I've seen them have as old as 3 years and still less than 10 miles on it and that's from test driving.

yeah, a buddy of mine bought a (Holden) Pontiac GTO back in the day once production ceased --- as he just had to have one --- and it was two model years hence and he found it new on the lot.

True, he had to take a "road trip" to get it, but, he found one well after the fact.

heh, yeah, I have a new 2007 Sierra for sale. All is good, ODO rolled back to 48mi ... :rollin:

I bought my 2016 Sierra SLT just over a month ago. MSRP was 56,220. I paid 40,210 OTD. The deal you are being offered sucks for a '15. That explains why they still have it on the lot.

how did you do that? are you including a trade in that price? that's 30% off, unheard of!

Alpine, some MB AMG vehicles now come with the odometer locked meaning no miles, this is done b/c from manf... to dealership esp... for dealership PDI (pre delivery inspection where its required to drive the vehicle a certain number of miles city/highway), there will always be miles on the car from start to finish. Once the tech is completed and the client picks up his/her new AMG vehicle the tech unlocks the odometer so the client gets his/her vehicle with "0" zero miles (however the BCM will house the total mileage including all before the cluster is unlocked). I really wish all vehicles were this way new.

With that being said, there are some smart guys that write code or have work arounds for cluster changes, esp... if a cluster fails and newer unit is needed. You don't talk about fight club!

These trucks also have a transport mode, but as you say do not work like that on purpose. Not to sure about all of that but if is part of MB's final step maybe they get away with that just barley but if it included actual test drives even that is a huge no-no. I would not be surprised if true that MB probably has 2 pages worth of things you can and absolutely cannot do before flipping that switch.

The proper procedure for swapping out a cluster (even before all computerized) was to set the new odometer to the old value and just carry on. Sure it is probably more complex with computerized (ironically it should be simpler) but the process is essentially the same.

P.S. I write code, if it was me writing this the cluster would be nothing more than a display and swap as simple as changing a monitor. All of us could upgrade to Denali or better still for a minimal price. However it cannot by law. Probably out of date ones but law none the less.

The good thing about a low offer of $30K is it gives the OP some wiggle room. Start low and move up. I would feel like I was leaving money on the table if I offered $35K and the dealer readily accepted, which I'm sure he could get that truck for $35K. I'm not a fan of haggling either, but I'm even less of a fan feeling I could Of got a much better deal. The great thing about the Internet is all the haggling can be done from the comfort of your couch.
