GM has updated its on-line ordering guides and in the vast amount of data we found the answer to the 2017 Sierra HD hood scoop mystery we previously reported on. GMC is offering a 6.6-liter turbo diesel for 2017. We all knew it would be a big, honkin' oil burner and now we have confirmation.

The very first line of the new ordering guide for both the Sierra HD and also Silverado HD has the following info: "Duramax Plus Package includes (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel V8 engine, (DQS) outside memory equipped heated power-adjustable vertical trailering mirrors, (MW7) Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission." The guide also says the new 6.6-liter diesel is B-20 compatible.

^^^ LOL!

I'm looking at that front end, and see nothing but dollar $ign$ in the event of a mishap. Lots of body lines that may look great, but when it comes time to repair them, lots of labor. Then, there's all the plastic ...

Also wonder what kind of newfangled, ultra-expensive emission surprises the new diesel will have ...

No surprise at all..I guess you could say it was "confirmed" We still know nothing more than we did a week ago and still don't know what's underneath the hood other than a 6.6 Duramax. Redo this post once the specifics and actual numbers are released, this post almost felt like April fools..lol

They got the E-rating on those hemmerhoid making 18 inch wheels... with a speed rating of "Q".

LT275/65R18E 123/120Q maximum traction blackwall Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires

Even my 90hp subaru outdid that..

when are they gonna get real tread.

I even have 123E, speed S on a 20 year old half ton.

100mph is quick enough I guess. I have a habit of doubling speed rating to nominal.

I do like the hood scoop. My dads 2016 pete is 550hp stamped under the bonnet.. no side air filters, a very aero front end. Air comes in through the hood.

Evolution of common sense. Good stuff.

A tradition to be on our own about the tread choices.
