Frame Rust - Lease Buy Out

I have a 2014 LT CC 5.3 that is currently on lease. I would like to either buy the truck or buy a new one. I really like the truck, BUT it has the issue with the frame rust so many of us had on the 2014's. I had the TSB done a year and a half ago, however, the issue still continues. Has anyone had the TSB done twice? Is that possible? Has the issue continued with the 15's and 16's?

Buying out a lease is not the best way to purchase a truck, BUT I really like my truck and I'm all ready in it, I am however, concerned about the rust. Any thoughts?

When the lease is up, get into a different one. You already acknowledged that buying outright after a lease is a bad idea. If the truck is having frame rust issues, move on and let GM deal with fixing it. I sounds like hit or miss from the numerous threads here on people who have had the dealer do the TSB and whether or not stripping and revolting the frame worked or not. I have an early build 14 (Aug 13 build date) and the coating on mine has held up rather well consid ing that the throw gravel and salt down here in Colorado.

Sounds ridiculous, but I can not get myself to like the new front end on the LTs, I like the Z71s though. I am also running out of miles on the lease so may buy or bail early. I have seen a lot worse than mine when it comes to the coating, it just pisses me off that they can't get it right.

Let's see. You have a problem truck.

Option 1: You can walk away and make it someone else's problem.

Option 2: You can open your wallet and pay money to buy GM's problem and make it your own.

Remind us, what exactly were you asking advice on?

Its mainly a cosmetic issue, it will take a long time for the frame to rust through. plus even the 'good' coated frames could rust in spots you dont see.

If the buyout is reasonable, you know what you have already, then go for it.

But with today's hyper-discounts on 16's I would turn that baby in and get a new one. You dont see the front end when you drive but you will see the odometer at 0 miles and a fresh warranty start.

I was at my local Chevy dealer today looking at the trucks. Brand new 2016's on the lot had frame rust already . :(
