2016 Silverado Fuel Filler

Recommended Posts

I have a crazy question. Can anyone who has a 2016 post a picture of the fuel filler with the cap removed? I had my Silverado repaired after an accident with a frame and bed replacement and something just doesn't quite look right. Can't get to a Chevy Dealership in the next few days otherwise I'd just check there.

Thanks in advance!

So does that look like yours after the repair or did they put in a cool capless unit?

I personally don't like the cap-less gas tank lid. I like a locking gas cap to keep people from putting anything in that could harm the engine or possibly pulling gas out of the tank.

I know that people still siphon gas because I drive cars and trucks from an auction house and almost every one I drive is on E.

Is that a picture of the gas cap or what is the picture of?

And not to mention all the dust that can get in there without a cap.

Never had an issue on my mom's 7 year old Mercury Mariner.

Does she drive dusty roads much? I spent 1.5 weeks in Colorado camping this summer and my area behind the gas door was completely covered with dirt/dust. This was the first thing I thought of. It at least puts more stress on your fuel filter. Maybe they've devised a way to keep the dust out a little better?

Hey guys don't fret over dealing with a capless filler neck. I've had them on cars and trucks since 2008, including a diesel (2014 Ram). The the doors have a seal and stay clean, even on dusty roads. I'll occasionally wipe the inside down with a paper towel at the gas station just after I fill up. You can siphon anymore and if someone is looking to steal gas/fuel nowadays they just punch a hole in the tank.

Seldom washed lol. The door is dirty sure, but the fill flap is just dirty from any dry/spilt fuel in the area.

FWIW, GM is going 'cap-less' for 2017 pickups (except the diesel, and the box-deletes)

I thought "capless" was an option?
