dorkweed Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Worst mileage to date since I've had this truck..............going on 6 weeks now. Anyhow; filled up at just over 1/4tank left and 428 miles on the clock, and this "hand calculated" out to a paltry 18.6mpg!!!! Sad part is that just about 50% of this tank of fuel was "empty" driving......................the other half towing my 3500# work trailer. I just don't understand how it can get any worse than this!!!
redhot1.4 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Yeah I feel you. My 78 c10 I hand calculated my mileage this morning when I filled up. 10.5 I had gotten 11.3 I need to get those electric fans and a overdrive That 3 speed is a killer Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
SouthernSilveradoGuy85 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 So you're complaining about 18.5 when half was towing a trailer? Be happy you got that. With the way I normally drive I barely can get 18 in town in the summer with my '14. With how I used to drive a long time ago I probably would get around 14-15 in town. I know my '98 got about 9.5 in town and about 13 on the interstate, 15 on the interstate if I baby it like my life depended on it.
truckguy82 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'm guessing that is a sarcastic complaint, because that's probably the best fuel mileage anyone in history has gotten towing 3500lbs
KARNUT Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Someone needs to start a thread, the worst gas milage vehicle I ever owned. Mine was I believe a 77 ford 1/2 ton 460, C-6 trans 410 rear 8 miles per gallon empty. Car was 383 road runner 12 mile per gallon.
SouthernSilveradoGuy85 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'm guessing that is a sarcastic complaint, because that's probably the best fuel mileage anyone in history has gotten towing 3500lbs Ya I see it now, I guess sometimes it's hard to read sarcasm lol.
Dnt Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Probably a typo as he did not have a pic of the readout on the dash. Figure ole dork is gettin round 13.6 mpg ...................see the 3 kinda looks like a 8
dorkweed Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 Probably a typo as he did not have a pic of the readout on the dash. Figure ole dork is gettin round 13.6 mpg ...................see the 3 kinda looks like a 8 I'll take a pic of the truck readout next time Mr. Doubting Thomas. JFYI, the readout was reading 19.1mpg when I filled up!!!
Fole75 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 My first car in high school.. A crapbox rotted out 1986 Buick Regal... Misfired all the time... I swore I was getting 7-8 mpg in that.. Frame was rusted.. Put it on a lift drilled two holes in a hockey puck and the frame bolted it together..every time I hit a bump it sounded like a dead body in the trunk...
OldBlue61 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 My worst was a '76 Blazer I bought when it was 2 years old. 350ci, 3 speed auto, full time 4wd. I'd struggle to get 8mpg, then of course I lifted it, put 33" Ground Hawgs on it, and couldn't get 6mpg. Warn lock out hubs got me back to 8, but that was it.
glcbn Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Yeah never calculated (you don't do that when you're 24 ). But I'm sure my '75 Custom Deluxe 350CID, automatic, 8' bed, full time 4WD with a 6" lift and the good old Remington 33" tires was in the single digit mpg numbers for certain. If the OP was being sarcastic and did get those kinds of numbers, well good for him. That's pretty awesome.
Dnt Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I'll take a pic of the truck readout next time Mr. Doubting Thomas. JFYI, the readout was reading 19.1mpg when I filled up!!! LOL just messin wit U. My 6.2 CC SB 8spd Denali gets right at 20 mpg consistently without the babying effect, the thing is amazing Great Job GM.
dorkweed Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Just got back late last night from a "LONG" day trip to Iowa and back. Put on about 425 miles round trip...........very little wind...............but muggy as hell.....................so I had the AC and/or DF running the whole trip. Had a bunch of short 30 minute stop and goes once I got there also.................and then the ride home. The "lie-O-meter" in the display is reading 21.5mpg average with over 450 miles on the tank as I type this. I still have just over 1/4 tank left according to the gauge. And since I've owned the truck; when I hand calculate mileage, it's always .4-.7 less than the "lie-O-meter"!!! Not impressed at all.....................I've read here about guys getting 37mpg. WTF???!!!
j-ten-ner Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I'm a little confused. Are you joking or are you serious? so long j-ten-ner
