The 2014 Sierra is gone

After going through all the bulletins shakes, loud harmonics, unbelievable poor head lights, v4 noises, the last straw was the paint coming off the rocker guard. This truck was the V6 308 rear end, double cab ,Z71 package.SLE

So after talking to the dealer, I'm in a 2016 crew, V8, 342 rear end, SLE, this truck is way ahead of the 2014, the head lights work, shifts smooth, goes into v4 without noticing, it's not shaking and the extra power is sweet.

So what did I learn....never buy a first year model.

Yeah that sucks when you get a bad one. Glad to hear you got another GMC and did not jump ship. They are not all bad,I got a 2015 GMC sle z71 and other then the lights not super great, I have had 0 issues with it.

It is surprising the number of issues reported on the 2014's that were not found in subsequent years, I have a 2015 CC V6 with the 3.42 and am very pleased with the combination. I'm approaching a year of virtually trouble free, enjoyable driving!

Good deal. I hope this one is as solid as my truck has been for the past year and 4 months and counting

And don't buy a 3.08 gear!!! EVER. I've managed to work through all the issues my '14 has thrown at me in the 25 months and 52k miles... more than I wanted to deal with but it's life. Recalls, TSBs, flywheel bolt oil leaks, oil leaks on the front of the motor, radio software updates, and rear axle leaks. The dealer has only fought me on the 2nd go around on the axle leak that re-appeared slowly. Thank God my rear vibration is minimal to non existent. That would of been the deal breaker for me too dude. Kudos on the new rig man. I'm sure they got a lot of items sorted out on it. At the end of the day, folks who bought 14's should be taken care of by GM in a extra manner, whether it be fixing issues or trade assistance, being the 14's had their share of issues which helped them perfect the 15'+. I rode in a '16 F150 that our company just bought my my co-worker. 3.5 Eco boost, CC/SB. Thing rides very well. I was very impressed with the ride quality and how quiet the cabin was. No vibrations of any kind. We drove a cargo box trailer to pickup a bunch of office furniture for our new construction trailer offices. The new F150 is probably ahead of the K2XX on ride quality. However I still like my K2XX interior better. Plus my LS V8 engine.... simplicity man... Every turbo car I've owned ends with me tuning it up and spending a lot of money on mods and/or maintenance. Not what I wanted in my daily driver to put food on the table and pay the mortgage. But FWIW, all I see are new F150's around town, 6:1 compare to new K2XX's. I think the Silverado had a big run for about 2yrs while Ford fell on their face with getting the new F150 up and running.

My gut seemed right about the 2014. I bought my 2011 lease return and left loads of incentives on the table that were offered on the 14's.

Sad to hear the 2014 owners had all these troubles, but glad they are fixed.

Nothing higher than 3:42 has any business in light trucks. I miss my 3:73.

The 323 with 8 speed auto seems to be a winner but only due to the low gearing in the trans.

My 2014 has been mechanically problem free

Just one problem with my '14 LTZ that I bought new in November of '13. The Driver info screen started flashing and went dead on a trip to California. All the gauges functioned properly so not a big deal. I just couldn't get readings for gas mileage or check tire pressures on the fly etc.. They replaced the whole instrument panel on warranty and no other problems. It's an LTZ it has most all the bells and whistles, and they all work fine! Too many recalls, but not for anything that was an issue I experienced. After nearly three years and 21,000 miles I don't see a reason to buy another truck. I truly love this one.

My 2015 Silverado has been great so far. The only real issue I have had is the gas pedal likes to squeak and you can't lube the damn thing! Also, this paint seems to chip if you look at it funny. But, every newer car I have had seems to have paper thin paint that chips easily. At this rate, I'll be looking at GM for my next truck!

Purchased my '14 with a build date of June '14 in August of '14. This is a reliable actually fun to drive truck.

I don't particularly care for the recalls - I think I've had 6 or 7 completed so far - including the hitch - but not the seat belt one.

Maybe by the end of the '14 model year some of the problems were sorted out. Nearing 14,000 miles.

Still have my '91 Chevy K1500 with a reman 350 from NAPA - ATK DCM5 4-Bolt Main Engine. Runs Great.
