Anyone ever notice (Tires)

Knowing this about the 200$ option I dropped it and saved the 200 then bought the tires I wanted and sold my sra's for 500. The way I figure it the 500 I got plus the 200 worth of option I got 7 out of mine and my new real all terrain tires (atturo xt) which I love cost me nothing. Yes those sra's are shit. I don't like the Bridgestones either. Those are not a decent tire for a 4x4

I've found one good use for the SRA's. They're very good on sand when aired down since they're such a non-aggressive tire. On a wet highway they're dangerous when you hit a couple of bumps in quick succession. I've found myself looking at the median a couple times when I hit the bumps and the rear kicks out.

When I started this thread, I hadn't done much research on this topic. For those that feel like Im repeating something that has already been discussed , I apologize.

What got me was the tire manufacturer states that the tire is one thing and GM (Chevy) is stating that it is something else (more) than what it really is. In either case, it appears that this tire is junk in the eyes of most users.

As soon as I get a chance, Im gonna drop this tire. Looking for a tire that is good on the highway and can handle snow when needed.

Mine came with the Goodyear Fortitude HT tires which are advertised on the Goodyear website as both A/S and A/T. The Goodyear SR-A's are advertised as A/S only. I did not order any optional tires but just went with the standard 18 inch.

In regards to a good tire on the highway and in snow I can't recommend highly enough Toyo Open Country. I used to have the A/T's on my old truck and they were quiet on the highway, good snow/rain traction. If you want a more aggressive tread but not a mud tire they recently came out with the R/T which has also gotten good reviews. Of course there's also the always reliable BFG All Terrain KO2's

I still have the factory SR-As and don't really have much to complain. I know there's other tires that are better, but I wouldn't say the SR-As are total sh*t like some are saying. I haven't had a problem in the rain, snow or ice. I don't live in northern US, Canada or Alaska, but the SR-As handles the amount of snow we usually get which is usually no more than 6"-12" at a time. I've also drove on dirt roads at pretty high speeds and never had a problem with them losing traction and I've taken turns at 50+ mph and even up to 70 mph.

With that said, I wouldn't call them all-terrains, just decent all season.

I thought all the z71's came with the bridge stone A/It's? My 15 Sierra came with them. I actually like them.

I could be wrong, but I think it just depends on the rim size. Seems like 18s and 20s get SR-As while the 22s get the Bridgestones. Not sure about the 17s.

mine are 18 inch wheels. But I just looked at my window sticker and it was an extra 200$ option.

That is GM's choice for all terrain tires. They've been using them since the 2014 launch, and the end of 2013 production on the 18" wheels and on 20" wheels.

If you had gone with a double cab LT or LT Z71 truck with 18" wheels, you could have ordered option code QXN On/Off road tires, which are the Bridgestone Dueler RHS they used to use on the 2007-2013 trucks.

Remember, CAFE and fuel economy is the name of the game, so the least aggressive/most fuel efficient all terrain option gets picked. Chevy isn't pulling anything on unsuspecting buyers. Blame the government and their fuel economy regulation push.

So am I the only one with the Goodyear Fortitude HT tires? Somehow I kind of doubt that. I think the key is 18" versus 20" or 22" wheels. The Fortitude HT is not available in 20" or 22".

2017 they switched to the Wrangler Fortitude HT for the all terrain option. for the 18" wheels. I can verify as the 2017 Z71 that just came in to day has them on it as well.

I corrected my other post with more information.
