Anyone ever notice (Tires)

Picked up my new 17 Dbl Cab LTZ a few weeks ago with the 20in wheels. When I ordered my truck, I specifically wanted All-Terrain tires (a $200 option). While researching what I actually had received from GM I noticed that the tires that came on the truck were the SR-A's. Well, Goodyear classifies the SR-A's as All-Season not All-Terrain. So, I went back to the dealer and did some looking around. It turns out that every truck that was on their lot and ordered with All-Terrains had the SR-A's installed. Could Chevrolet be trying to get one over on the unsuspecting? Will talk with my salesman on Thursday and see what he says.

I believe this had been mentioned a while back in another thread. People actually took it to GM Customer Care or whatever it is and basically told them they classified it as an all terrain even though the manufacturer of the tire says different. They are trash anyways, if your dealer will work with you get some BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2's, I love mine

It you would have ordered 22's you would have got the Bridgestone Dueler AT RH-S

I made my dealer swap out tires and wheels from another truck on the lot. You might try that since your truck is only 2 weeks old. It would have been better to do it before you drove off the lot but you can try.

If you have a Discount Tire nearby, they have a trade in program which will help getting a set of tires you really want. You could also just pony up the funds, buy the tires you want and throw the stock tires up on CL to get some of your money back. While i do think its crap GM upcharges to get the SRAs, its really on you the buyer to notice those kind of things during your pre look before you buy.

Discount Tires gave me $260.00 for the new Bridgestone HP's (highway) tires from my new WT. Tipotex Chevrolet would sell me new tires, but not offer anything for the old tires - must be standard Chevrolet policy. FWIW, Goodyear SRA's came original with my Jeep Wrangler - wouldn't even think about taking them off road. Again, with Discount Tires, got $200 something credit for Goodyear Silent Armors. The difference in the sidewalls was amazing.

I have found that the 20" GoodYear SRA's on my 2016 have very poor wet road grip. They would actually be very dangerous on a truck without Torgue Management/Traction Control and Stabiltrak engaged. You can feel them slip and the truck get a little squirrely before the nanny devices correct it at every takeoff on wet roads. Horrendous. I do not remember them being this bad on my 2014 with 20" SRA's but it was a 5.3 6spd not the 6.2 8spd on this 2016 so I guess the increased hp/torgue and lower 1st gear with the 8sp may be making the difference? I doubt if i will run these SRA's very long maybe 30k that is about what I got out of them on the 2014. I replaced with Michelin's on the 2014 and they rode great but the 20" Michelins did not look like they were going to have the tread life that the 15 and 16" tires that I used to run on older trucks, (they typically made 80 to 90k every set). The michelins looked halfway worn out when i traded the truck and they only had a little over 30k on them..... I guess it is a 20" tire thing?

GM puts lousy tires on the current 1500 trucks pretty much across the board. Sadly most of the OE tires these days are weak and I'd plan on replacing them off the bat with pretty much any pickup.

This is nothing new. In 2000 we got firestone crappy ATs

My 2003 came with Wrangler ST tires. I always told people the ST stood for shitty tire.

I would say the stock tire are lightyears ahead of what used to come stock. They are fine road tires and ride well but yes they are shit offroad and probably not the best with snow but the do handle wet good.

The Bridgestone Duellers or however they spell it that came on my 2011 were better rubber than I've seen on any 2014+ GM 1500 aside from the special edition ones that got legit Goodyear ATs.
