So it looks like some of these trucks come with the Projection Icon, which is pretty nice if you have an iphone, and then some do not. Is it possible to upgrade the software or firmware of the myLink to get the Projection feature?

My 2016 worked with the iPhone but did not work with android auto. They updated with the software that was released March 1st of this year and it added android auto feature

The projection icon is for the heads up display in the suvs. When you plug in an iPhone that icon changes to a CarPlay one. There is a member on here that is in the process of adding the heads up feature from the suvs in his truck though.

Depending on your VIN. I tried to do it but apparently my 2016 was a batch of trucks that can't get the upgrade so they credited 200 dls to the price.

Whst they told me was thatproduction ran out of computers so there is a run that got a replacement piece that does not allow projection.

Chat with chevy online, give them your VIN and they'll let you know if you can get the upgrade or not. If so, it is free.

So i have it on my 2017 but what does it do?

Using either application is simple in a compatible 2016 GMC Canyon, Sierra or Yukon. A “Projection” icon on the IntelliLink screen is visible when a phone is not connected, and then changes to indicate either CarPlay or Android Auto (whichever is applicable) when a compatible phone is connected via USB. Android Auto requires a phone running the Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system or above, while Apple CarPlay requires an iPhone 5 or later.

In other words the projection button does nothing till you hook a phone up.

The 2016 I just got doesn't have the Projection icon. Is that something I can upgrade to?

Did your window sticker have a $200 discount on it? If so, you can't upgrade as your truck was built with the 2015 hardware and software.

Have a 2016 Silverado LTZ. Have the projection tab on the radio. Plug in my Android phone and hit accept on the phone but nothing happens on the truck radio. What to do to get it to work?
