Your dealer only let you take a 10 min test drive? Idk, if im dropping $50K on a vehicle, im driving it as long as i feel and the dealer will like it.

Hey Hawkeye, I am new to the forums and just trying to learn from others, gain knowledge and share my opinion about my truck like everyone else on here! I am sorry i started a new post on an apparent old topic, not looking for any attention. And yes I bought the truck, but you really don't get to know a truck on a 10 min test drive, it take some time to realize the ins and outs of it after you have owned it for awhile! If you don't like the thread then don't read it, go back to yelling up the stairs and asking mom when your lunch is ready!!

I find it interesting the replies I got! I was not bashing GM or crying, I was only voicing my opinion on my truck thinking maybe GM would be trolling the forum and would make some changes in the future. I get that I bought it too, and I did drive it more than 10 min, I was just meaning it takes some time to learn about a new truck! I think it's funny how fast people jump on you for your opinion! Sounds like some of you bought the wrong truck and want the rest of us to know all about it.....sorry you didnt do your homework before hand.

All your bitches gripes and complaints can be counter argued. Who wants a dual exhaust hitting you in the face when you're hooking up a trailer. I don't so i didnt buy a RAM. Thanks GM for thinking this through.

Want your truck to sound mean? Buy an aftermarket exhaust.....you already paid 50K on the truck, what's another $800? Do you complain about having to use premium fuel on that 6.2?

Keyless entry and push button start.....more complaints from forgotten keys i guess

http://www.edmunds.com/toyota/tacoma/2016/long-term-road-test/2016-toyota-tacoma-starts-without-the-key.html

Rear seat storage? Buy the GM cargo box or Husky Box? Personally, id rather have the floor space, at least GM gives you an option to equip, you chose not to, but this is GMs fault? How?

Fog lights to come on automatically? For real? So those of us in States where it's illegal to drive with fog lights on when its not inclement out can get tickets? glad you're not the one making the decisions for GM...GM got it right, push the button if you want to ball with fog lights on....too lazy to push a button and turn a key i see

You should of stuck with what worked for you....Grass aint always greener. This thread=fail, im not sure if i feel more sorry for you for geeting such a terrible truck or that in today's day and age, you couldn't figure this stuff out before you dropped your $$$$. Hey, i know a guy from Nigeria who has a proposition for you, he just needs $1500 to pay his custom fees to clear his Millions, and he'll give you $150K you in?

After three Dodge Rams, 07, 10,14 sport crew cabs, I wanted to change things up a bit. I loved the look and styling of the new GMC sierra. With the 20% off incentives in October i ended up with a 2016 Denali 1500. I loved the comfort of the magnetic ride on the test drive, and with $12,150 off a $60,750 sticker i did the deal. Right off the bat i did the Suspension Maxx 2.5 front lift with 1.5 blocks in rear just to make it look more like a truck, since i was use to the the rams which are so much higher from the start. The kit is a quality one since not many out there work with the magnetic ride. It makes the truck look 100% better than stock.

So now after a month of owning the truck i thought i would express my opinion on here hoping maybe some GM R&D people would listen to consumers coming from other brand trucks! I looked at all trim levels online and have found these things lacking on all GM trucks.

First off there is no grab handle on drivers side pillar like on the passenger side. Really? If you want one you have to buy one for like $50. then install it, don't you think that is a basic thing to have on a truck!

Second thing is no light in either top or bottom glove box! You can go buy a KIA base model car and get a lighted glove box for crying out loud, but not in a $60K truck!!

Third is storage, my Ram had storage under back seats when flipped up, storage in floors under back seat foot rests, i took a whole bin of stuff out of Ram storage areas and could not fit any of it in GMC!

And Ram also had a fold flat floor that folded down when back seats where up to make the floor flat to put stuff on instead of raised hump like in GMC.

Forth is a biggie, there are no heat ducts to the back seats, every other brand truck i have ever ridden in has some kind of ducts under the seat or in the center console between front seats with vents facing the rear seats. My Ram had both under the seats and in console.

Another concern is that my truck has the automatic retracting running boards, you can lock them in so they don't come out in your settings but no setting to have them lock in the out position which i think is stupid, i live in northern N.Y. where we get a ton of snow, i can already see those boards freezing in with the slush and snow after sitting in the driveway over night even though i put on mud flaps, maybe i am wrong we will see, but how easy would it have been to have an option to lock them out!

Well after all my ranting i do like the truck, even though its been back to dealer three times in 1500 miles for uconnect phone and electronic issues, so hopefully the GM guys will read this and step it up a little for a truck that is lacking in my eyes!

I understand your positions.

I had 2013 and a 2014 Ram Laramie 4x4's as the very first trucks I've owned. Have been in many but never needed in truck in two decades of prior driving.

I did the same as you, got the GMC for two reason mainly. Wanted a change from my prior two trucks (though I liked the Ram's a lot) and because of the big 6.2 V8 engine. Wanted that too, for no other reason as I like V8's and power.

I passed on the Ford because of the 5.0 liter V8 is a bit "weak" compared to the Hemi and the GM 6.2

Also the new aluminum truck makes it light and "nimble" for a truck but the bed is soft and I worried about repairs and insurance costs from the aluminum. I also test drove a 2013 FX4 with Ecoboost back in 2013 and though it was quick, the truck shuttered something bad over uneven pavement and having a V6 didn't sound right in a truck to me yet (may never??).

Of the GM trucks the GMC Sierra looks much better than the Chevy with it's slit eye headlights/daytime running lights. And the GMC just seemed to be a step up in nicer quality.

But I was shocked at these things:

No keyless entry

No keyless push button engine start/stop

Having an actual KEY and a remote fob in two different pieces (what is this 2001?)

No rear A/C vents

Fog lights don't automatically come on with low beam headlights when in "auto" mode

The steering wheel controls seem to have a cheap rubber cover over them which seem like they'll wear out fast, no actual hard buttons.

The Satellite/radio preset memory buttons don't automatically scan over to the next page, you have to reach up and swipe to get to the next page as you are scrolling through the channels.

The Satellite/radio doesn't have a hard drive installed in it so if you want to pause a song, or play a song back on SiriusXm you can't like on the Ram.

With Ram you get 5 full years of included full SiriusXM and Sirius Traffic. You get a lousy 3 months with a $60k GM truck (that alone costs you a grand to have 5 years on the GM truck...they clearly want you to subscribe to OnStar instead).

Though the bed in the GMC is a bit longer than the Ram, you lose rear seat space in the GMC crew cab.

The GMC with the 6.2 has little noise. I bought a big V8 for a big V8 sound. It's nearly dead quiet when driving normal. Why not have a bit of a rumble from the exhaust? Now I need to spend the money to get an aftermarket muffler on just to have a bit of rumble. The Ram's Hemi sounded better and was perfect on the rumble from the exhaust.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the GMC with the 6.2, it's quite fast (though the Ram with the Hemi never felt slow, especially with the 3.92 gears), but the 6.2 is faster.

And I like other aspects of the GMC that the Ram didn't have (like the rear seat reminder if someone gets in the back. Not that I'd ever leave my child back there, but hey people have brain farts from time to time, so a reminder is not a bad thing).

I like the heads up red light flash and vibrating seat as the collision warning. And I like the looks of the GMC equally and maybe a touch better than the Ram, except for the view from the rear, where the Ram just looks better with it's dual exhaust coming out the back with polished tips. It's a bit lame for the GMC to have a single one sided exhaust pipe (I know, saves money weighs a bit less) but still, the Ram looks better from the rear.

I also like the Auto 4x4 feature in the GMC. With the Ram you were either in 2wd or 4wd, no auto. I don't drive the GMC in Auto mode, but its nice to have as I probably will in rain or inclement weather so the drivetrain can automatically switch to 4WD if rear wheel slip is detected. That's an awesome feature.

So overall, I like the GMC and especially the 6.2 V8. I think I would of passed on this truck though if the 5.3 was my only option.

Great smooth riding quiet (no wind noise) truck with great looks and great power, so I'm not dissatisfied with it, but it's a bit frustrating that GM remodeled these trucks in 2014 but didn't update many of it's technology aspects that have been on much cheaper vehicles for 5-7 years prior to 2014 already. So in that regard, I feel you.

I thought Clinton supporters are people who cry things didnt work out like they expected? nails you to a T

Not sure what a post from someone complaining about other people's thoughts, decisions, and inputs is good for? Stay out of it if you have nothing better to do than complain about what you think is other people complaining. So basically with your train of thought, you are complaining about other people's complaining. Voicing opinions and desires is what gets things changed and improved. Don't kid yourself to I think people that work for GM and other manufacturers don't visit and frequent automotive forums.

So if those of you jumping into this thread to complain about the OP's or anyone else's post, thoughts, desires, wishes, etc don't like it, start by not complaining about what you are calling their complaining, would be a good start for you.

Sure, people get sick of senseless complaining....quit dorking up an "Enthusiast" board....go pay a shrink if you want to bitch gripe and complain...they can probably even help you make better life choices so you dont ruin your day buying a truck you don't like. How about be productive and help people solve issues they have with their trucks....as they say...bitching is just bitching and all youve done is bitched. Theres already a thread for that.

I find it interesting that you think coming on and having one of your first post being in bigger font (only helps you read your own words, hold CTRL and scroll up and ALL posts get bigger) saying how crap the truck is compared to the 3 Rams you have had and think it is going to be received well.

You THEN go on to insult people by insinuating I can't take care of myself or still live with my parents and that someone else can't afford a truck and they are only entitled to post in your thread if they do... and you think it will be received well.

I am not sure what you do for a living, but you act like that in my profession and you will be without a job before your first paycheck. I sure as shit hope you have no kids, and if you do you are teaching them to act differently than you do.

Even if you had just put your rant into one of the existing "Can't believe the Denali has no options" threads you wouldn't have gotten as much backlash. I assume this is not your first forum? Are you familiar with the search function? If not feel free to ask and you will probably get a better reception.

edit: In case you want to know what you left off your features list:

and how people react when someone just complains about something with no other reason than to vent:

Interesting, OP can find a forum from an Internet search but claims theres nonway he could of known from a test drive what features the GMC had or lacked. Comes on the forum and first post is to bitch about how his Denali isn't like his previous Ram saying all he's trying to do is reach out to GM specailists who will take his inputs and add all the inputs to the next model truck...hmmmm

Can search the internet tomfind this forum, but is completely lost on how to search the forum for similiar topics....and wonders why all the backlash...lol too funny

Perhaps your efforts would of best been spent filling out the customer survey card.

I hear ya, but Ram has shortcomings as well....mainly it's fat ass curb weight, faulty "395hp Hemi" (no F'n way it makes that power...things a dog), terrible gas mileage, chintzy plastics (I almost puked when I was truck shopping & found Ram selling $50k+ trucks w/ plastic chrome wheel covers), stupid turn dial gear selector, etc. etc.

I do like that Rams come w/ 33" tires, I really like the ram cargo boxes built into the bed, they had a good software system w/ Uconnect although now seems dated.

Also....if you had the 6.2 you would have a different opinion I think....& no offense but the reason you got 20% off on that Denali is precisely b/c it had the 5.3, that 20% off offer applies to trucks that have been sitting around the longest, & I'm not hating on the 5.3 either, still a better motor than the 5.7 Hemi.

Just to let you know, I do believe it has 395 hp (plus it has to be certified by the SAE to claim it anyway).

I had two of them.

At the drag strip with my Crew Cab 4x4 Laramie, I did like high 14's at 95 mph.

I also took a 2013 FX4 Ford with 3.5 Ecoboost and did rolling runs with VBox timer, and the Ram equalled the Ecoboost in passing times and almost exactly match it in 0-60 times of 6.4 seconds, same day, same track, same timer and me driving both trucks. Both trucks were also new with under 2k miles on each.

The problem with the Ram is the weight, from having a lot of steel, heavy wheels/tires, heavier dual exhaust, and lots of options too. Almost every time you see one tested though they use the base 3.21 axle ratio instead of the 3.55's I had in my 2013 or the 3.92's I had in the 2014.

So even though it has 395 hp it needs that extra 30 hp or so to make up for the fact it's 200 lbs heavier than a GM (and pre 2015 Ford's) truck, and now like 500 lbs heavier than the new aluminum Fords (which are even faster).

If you haven't driven a Ram with the Hemi and 3.92 axle ratio, drive one, it's a quite burly engine actually, doubt you'll find it subpar or question the 395 hp the engine has considering the extra weight it drags around. I'd also put my money on the 5.7 liter over the GM 5.3 any day in a performance and pulling contest. The 5.0 in the Ford has 365 hp (now 375) and I drove the Hemi back to back with the Ford too and the Hemi felt stronger than the Ford 5.0 as well. So again, I don't question the 395 hp or the 407 tq rating.

Again, the reason I got the 6.2 in my GMC, I wanted something more powerful than the 5.7 Hemi I had, and the 5.3 felt and was quite weak by comparison to the Hemi. The 6.2 is noticeably stronger though, considering it has 25 more hp and several hundred pounds less weight.

I'm not a manufacturer fanboy, I like almost all brands, so I don't have loyalties. I just speak as I see it and experience it.

The Ram was a nice riding, super smooth driving, comfortable truck with good grunt. It had it's downfalls as well, just like the GM/GMC trucks do. Speaking of those downfalls shouldn't be a reason for others to attack other people's opinions and thoughts, I'm sure we can all agree with that.

Cheers guys

Have you looked in the mirror (or read all your posts here)?

You aren't helping anything and all you are doing is bitching about what YOU feel is other people bitching.

Move on if you don't like the thread Steve, don't stick around to bitch about it if you don't like it. LOL
