Question about GM Points.

Just received a post card/folding card in mail.

All about GM vehicles and points.

On one page it lists the points that can be used.

It states the Chevrolet 1500 - as $1500 points.

My question is - if I have $2,100. in points - am I limited to just the $1,500. and the rest of my points have to just sit or wait until I later seek out another GM product?

Another example on list is the Sonic and Spark. The post card/mailing card states $500.00. So that's it as far as points? My $2,100.00 in points is only good for $500.00 off the Sonic or Spark - and then I still have $1,600.00 hanging on?

Yes. What you are seeing is max redemption allowance. Anything over that and it stays in your account for a future purchase or they expire. Really frustrating when one has, say $6000 in points. The original card had no limit, but it sounds like neither of us have that card.

Once in a while GM will run a promo for a higher allowance. During Jan - Feb 2016 the Silverado max redemption allowance was $3000.

I'm glad I have the business card. Deals stack up.

Depends on your card

We have the older card. We can only build up $500 points a year up to 7 years for a total of $3,500.

Like now we got our Suburban, we had $2,000 to put down towards it. If we waited three more years then we would have had the max of $3,500.
