What's everyone using for license plate bulbs? Just picked up a 2017 Sierra Denali and I see the license plate lights are still the old school 194s.

Kind of weird, but one of the first things I did when I brought home my Silverado was swap out the license plate bulbs, cargo lamps, and reverse lights with some Phillips LED bulbs. They all match and look awesome!

Philips makes all kinds of different LED bulbs. I used them in my previous vehicle too and love them.

I put these in and so far, so good.

 

I got 4, but should have gotten one more pair to use for the interior footwell lights.

I got mine on eBay. Sylvania Zevo 194. They sell them in Autozone also. Lifetime warranty.

Sadly, Sylvania/Osram lighting has pretty much been sold to a Chinese firm back in July. I'd recommend pursuing GE & Philips automotive lighting products if you want to avoid the chinese aspect of things. If that's even possible in this day and age.

Disgustingly, Osram sold Sylvania off to a Chinese company, recently. I'd recommend going with Philips or GE.

Wow I didn't know this. Sick of the silver stars blowing so I went with Phillips this past time

This was the first thing I changed on my 17 Sierra. Picked them up from Diode Dynamics. Cool white (6000K) with the HP3 brightness. I think they were $12. They manufacture in St Louis. I've been to their facility.

I ordered the Putco 194 replacements and they are too long by about 1/4"

Do it sooner, rather than later. The original incandescent/halogen bulbs in my 2012 melted the sockets a bit. 1 still works fine with the new LED, but the other was too melted, the socket is damaged, so I need to replace it.

Wow I did not know this, but I am not surprised, there is a Sylvania plant in my town and was informed yesterday it was closing.

 

Phillips 194 is what you want for your plate light, I changed them out in my 2017 and they work plus look great.

The only downside to swapping in LED bulbs in the license plate lamps is that OnStar constantly sends you bulb out warnings. Has anyone figured out a way to stop that?
