2011 Chevy SIlverado 1500

Issue: Had a problem with my truck last week. Got it towed to a mechanic shop not transmission shop at 5pm. Shop closes at 5:30pm. They called me the following day an hour after they opened that I had a bad transmission. Somehow I don't believe they were able to in an hour and a half push my truck into the bay, remove the transmission, take the transmission to a transmission shop, and transmission shop diagnose the problem all within an hour and a half.

This isn't the first vehicle/time i've had an issue with a mechanic shop trying to stiff me over.

Is it possible to match my supposable bad transmission to my truck? Such as matching a vin # etc....? I feel like there going to show me a transmission that came out of a different truck but same model that is bad just to make a buck.

Truck was bought at a GM/Chevy Dealership 3yrs ago.

They told me they pulled the transmission out when I spoke to them at 9:17am that morning when they opened at 8:30.... The guy couldn't even give me the model # of the transmission (Ughhhh its a 4l60 or 4l80, #'s to worn as the guy said on the phone)

I'm coming here for help not a fu**ing interrogation. If there is no way to 100% say that transmission came out of that truck then just please say that.

As far to my knowledge you can match the last 6 #'s of the vin on the dash to the last 6 on the motor block. My concern is not the motor.

Moreless they told me some mechanism regarding the brakes was telling the transmission to disengage which it wasn't fully supposedly and ground the teeth. How would you even know that w/o taking the trans apart.

I had just gotten the oil changed at a reputable oil shop not even a few weeks ago and asked them to check my trans levels. Told me everything looks superb with the oil, no burnt smell etc... 2 weeks later transmission is burnt/gears ground with no notice.

Dude-

People are trying to help you. Same as on this thread last week - http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/197009-trans-feels-like-i-lost-my-first-huntin-dog-all-over-again/

Perhaps stop personalizing things and consider that any questions people are asking you are meant to be helpful. Responding the way you have isn't going to get you a lot of help here.

Jus' sayin'

What does the transmission being in the truck have to do with anything? Sounds like hes calling me a liar.

I've read thru multiple articles and alot of people respond to people asking legit questions with a smart ass response such as the thread on how to make a 5.3L silverado the loudest thread.

Why don't you go over there and find out??

Maybe someone stayed late and removed it the day you brought it in....

Lewis, you need to calm down. We can tell you're pissed about your truck, but without some more information, no one looking at a computer screen can really help you. If you took it to a shop you trust, you will have to believe them, if you took it somewhere you don't trust them- why did you go there?

Transmission does not have to be removed from a vehicle to be diagnosed as faulty. I'm in no way calling you a liar, just ill-informed.

Have a nice day!

A transmission fault can be generalized via diagnostics with the unit in the truck (line pressure test, check for transmission codes, etc.). Only if they suspect a hard part failure (truck doesn't move, lots of metal in the pan, burnt A$$ fluid with tons of metallic flake in it, etc.) would they pull the unit, and then send it out (if they don't have a trans guy in house) to be disassembled to determine route cause of your issues. To diagnose it while still in the truck? Probably that hour to hour and a half you say they took.

That said...do you have any of the trouble codes or anything they found in the truck on any of your paperwork? If you do, can you post them here? Also, I would be concerned with their lack of knowing what transmission you have in your truck, as via my posts in your other thread, you have a 6L80, and not a 4L60 or 4L80. If that is what they think you have in there, they should probably stop working on your truck asap.

If you don't trust the shop, then have it towed somewhere else. Your hostility is not helping you here.

I didn't interpret that as him calling you a liar. It appears to me that he's suggesting the shop may be lying to you.

If you verified that the trans was still in the truck, you'd know for sure the shop was lying to you.

Again, I suggest you not personalize things. People are pretty helpful on these boards for the most part.
