I'm just reusing my existing amp. I'm removing my 10" under the rear seat so I can put my rear storage back in. All I have to do is connect the speaker wire from the sub to the amp, but I have to remove the rear seats to get to it. While they're out I'll also be able to adjust the amp for the new sub.

Have any pictures of how you mounted your amp?

Nice. I ordered one with the L7 in it using the same discount. No idea when I'll get it installed. I still need to mount my amp and run wiring.

Just bought the same setup with the ebay coupon and added a bass remote for better control. Local shop is gonna install it next week with a LOC. I'm impressed with the build quality. Very solid.761ca64f427584fe9658d2429a0bd48c.jpg

Here's how my amp is mounted to the back wall. I cut out the back wall insulation a little bigger than my amp. Then I cut a piece of plywood the same size as the amp and mounted that to the back wall. Then the amp to the wood. I originally used liquid nails to mount the wood to the back wall so I didn't have to drill into the back wall. That only held for about a week. So I remounted it using industrial strength velcro. That lasted about 2 weeks. I couldn't get anything to stick with how hot it gets during the summer. So today I finally just said screw it and used sheet metal screws and drilled into the back wall. I used rubber washers and silicone to make sure water wouldn't get in. I'm really impressed on how hard this little sub hits and it sounds great. I was on the fence about ordering the Comp R or the L7 and I decided to just go with the Comp R after hearing my neighbors tahoe with the same setup. I also didn't think there would be that big of a difference. I have my amp setup so that when the bass knob is all the way down you can barely hear the sub, almost like its stock. Turn up the knob and it hits.2c8c41b9db6388fe7e4fca4cc490ef4e.jpg

Ran power wire through passenger fender then just above door harness. There was just enough room in door sill channels to fit amp power wire all they way to back wall. No drilling required.

Just shoved amp amp under rear seat for now. Will prob get some plexi glass and put some bolts through then put plexi under carpet, push bolts through then attach amp. No metal drilling :-)

JL amp is really small so doesn’t take up much space on floor.

I just ordered the LC2i so I might get to install mine this weekend. The only thing left I need to order is wire. Any suggestions on a good brand for a reasonable price?

Order a name brand kit. JL, Rockford, alpine, etc. I ordered a 4 gauge eBay amp kit which was cheap. The outside insulation is 4 gauge but the actual wire inside is more like 8 or 10 gauge. It runs my 300w amp fine but if adding more amps or higher wattage I will spend more on a quality wire kit.

I ended up ordering this one.

I looked into welding cable and it looks like the price would be comparable buy the time I pieced together the rest of the parts I need. Hopefully the quality doesn't suck. If it does I'll send it back and go the welding cable route.

I got it installed over the weekend. Sounds good. Much more thump than the stock bose sub. I also did the rear seat fold down mod so I can get to the amp and LC2i for easy adjustments.

Wish I would have done the rear seat fold down mod too but for some reason I dont trust it with my kids car seat back there.

My kids booster seat is always on the passenger side and I didn't see any reason to modify that one. Still it's plenty secure when the seat bottom is folded down. If I did it again I would have cut off about a 1/4" less of the tab. I found a measurement that said to cut off 2.5 inches. It works fine but after putting the seat back in I don't think you need to cut off that much.

I'm pretty happy with the sub output for now and if I need to make any adjustments I'll just do it at the head unit. I know it's not ideal but I'm just lazy.

Soo...  having never torn apart one of these consoles, if you put your amp inside the console where the current bose sub is, can you pull out the inside of the arm rest part and reach it to make adjustments?

If you put the new sub in where the Bose sub was like I did then there isn't any room to mount an amp under there anywhere. Even if there was there would be no easy way to access it without unbolting the console or cutting part of it open somewhere.

    • This video may not be the exact content for the joke thread but its a lot of laughs so here it is, I've only watched a portion of it so far but if anyone is looking for some light hearted good soap box driving action, its here. As a note in the upper left of the screen it shows the number out of 100 to refer back to any particular vehicle for comment !.    https://www.facebook.com/reel/1351928276956715
    • Did have to make 1 modification because of the WeatherTech rear mud flaps and that was needing 3 longer screws than what came with the install package. 😄
    • Picked up the liners yesterday. Installed passenger side WITHOUT any modifications. All mounting holes lined up perfectly. Rain is interfering today with drivers side. Very Happy! Will add pics when finished
    • As a matter of amusement I’ll leave this conversation with this. Do you beat the government average fuel estimate? Statistics are a guide to me. Not a rule. Someone once said I have to have the last word. If true and possible may be. I’ll blame that on working in a family business.
    • That is a fair point, and I agree that trying to log “everything in the truck” would be the wrong direction.   There are a lot of modules and a lot of traffic. If the product became a full-truck datalogger, the amount of data would get huge very quickly, and most owners would never use it.   I think the first useful version would need to be narrow: - powertrain-side event evidence - selected high-value parameters - communication / voltage / reset events - pre/post event window - short report first, raw log only as backup   One distinction I should make is between active OBD/PID polling and passive bus capture. If you are polling PIDs through OBD, then yes: the more parameters you request, the lower the effective sample rate becomes, and you are adding diagnostic traffic to a vehicle that is already busy running itself. With passive CAN capture, the recorder is not asking all the modules for data. It is listening to traffic that is already on the bus. So it does not consume vehicle bus bandwidth in the same way that a scan tool polling hundreds of PIDs would. But your point still applies in a different way.   Even if passive capture does not add bus traffic, the recorder still has limits: - processing rate - storage rate - timestamp accuracy - decoder workload - event filtering - report size - user attention span   So the answer cannot be “log everything and let the user figure it out.” The product would need to store enough raw evidence to be useful, but only decode, graph, and present the important parts around the event.   A practical report should probably show: - what triggered the capture - how much pre/post data was preserved - which selected parameters changed - how those values compared to baseline - whether the same pattern happened before - whether any voltage, reset, bus-off, lost-message, or communication fault occurred - selected graphs around the event - raw data only as supporting evidence   So I agree with you. More data is not automatically better. The real product is the reduction from raw data into a useful event report.
