2017 HD questions

So I have had my 2017 HD Sierra Denali for about a month now. A couple things:

(1) Is there any difference in the axle - frame - suspension between the 2500 and the 3500? Or is it simply the tire/wheel rating. A dealer told me this was the case and I just am not sure. I am a little disappointed when I looked at the glove box sticker about a truck camper and it doesn't even allow 1200#.. Especially when the GM website specifies a payload of 2500#... I am thinking I can find higher rated E tires and wheels to allow me to at least use a 2000# camper... Maybe add some air bags.

(2) albeit a small concern, I can't believe they still haven't added a glove box light. Has anyone found something that works? Maybe one that comes on when you open it like a button LED maybe?

(3) God is the DEF tank Fugly

Thinking of a slight level to the front end. I have found a kit that also lets you lower the front dif to keep correct angles.. I don't need the full 2 3/4" (thats the difference front to back on my truck)...

Thanks!

Wrong forum for starters....... and maybe because it is a Denali blvd cruiser !?

But my 2007.5 2500 Sierra Duramax with standard box had these weights:

Scale weight: 7,300 Rear Axle: 3,000 (Front Axle: 4,300)

Rated: 13,000 Towing 3,458 Payload

2500HD vs 3500HD. If its a gas truck, 2500hd uses the 10.5" rear axle, and 3500hd uses the 11.5" axle. On diesel 2500 and 3500 they both use the 11.5" axle. 3500 has two extra springs in the rear with some monster spring stops, and higher payloads all day long over a 2500hd. 3500hd only use 18" wheels as well because the load index on the tire size they use is higher and can support the higher payload. If you are looking to do a slide in camper, I would go 3500hd as you won't have much payload left over.

All of the doodads on the Denali eat away at its payload rating. My 3500HD LT trim SRW truck has a payload of over 4,000 lbs. Go look at some Ram Megacab 2500 trucks - with a payload of 1,000 lbs. Which is about half of the payload you can get on a half ton.

Brother was looking into why GM was using "smaller" wheel/tire combos than Ford & Dodge.

He said they looked like this:

Center of gravity and loading...if you look at the manufacturer loading for a standard load, it is placed within so many inches of the front bulkhead.

You can compare the payload ratings for 2500/3500srw(std and long)/3500drw here:

Can you tell me what your 'camper' sticker in the glove box says? Just curious the difference between a 2500 srw and a 3500 srw, per GM anyway

I just looked in my glove box today. '17 ccsb 4x4 6.0, 1750 lbs in the bed. Must be the engineers leave another 1000 for people in the cab to max out gvw?

3192 lbs for truck camper on the glovebox sticker, 4024 lbs payload on the B-pillar sticker. It carries a 4,000+ lb truck camper as well as can be expected for a SRW truck.
