Go to xs website. And look at the vehicle chart. It should be 4800 or 4900. You'll need the sae adapters as well but those can be gotten for about 25 off amazon or summit

I have them in all my vehicles except my 16 rc. My 97 Silverado has 8 that are about 5 or 6 years old that have been beaten to ship from the audio. And they're still kicking

Replaced my battery. I must say the factory did a shit job of installing oem bat... they had the battery so far forward that the connection housing on top was rubbing a hole in my coolant reservoir. Now after installing the new bat I have a good 1/4 inch of space between the bat and res.0d309f502503bc30c92229bca527b199.jpg0926bb4298c813fd001fd4aa9ba93ab9.jpg just curious on the gauge pic... do the volts look right?

I'm currently investigating the alternator on my 2016 5.3 CC. It's 150 amp and can handle all the loads I throw at it without any voltage reduction. Normally I see 14 volts. However the truck is designed to lower the alternator output voltage after the computer determines the battery is charged, and the load is low. That's when I have measured its output at a low of 12.56 volts using a Digital Voltage Meter (very little load the the time). This is too low! It's allowing my battery to begin discharging.

I was at the dealer getting recall service, and they told me my battery was 1/2 discharged and asked if I use any accessories with the engine off. I don't. I'm very careful about power management, especially since I have an RV and go dry camping with a solar panel and generator when needed. The dealer charged my battery and ran a load test. They said it tested above spec (vehicle had less than 10k miles at the time).

I'm currently waiting until warmer weather because that's when the low voltage condition occurs the most. I plan go directly to the dealer when its occurring, and have them measure the running voltage before I turn it off.

The reason I mention all this is because it could be the reason a battery prematurely dies. It's being charged and discharged through many 1/2 cycles because the vehicle computer is not maintaining proper voltage.

The alternator output is lowered to below 12 volts when not needed.

What brand and size battery did you end up with?

134 Instruments and Controls

Voltmeter Gauge

When the ignition is on, this gauge

indicates the battery voltage.

When the engine is running, this

gauge shows the condition of the

charging system. The gauge can

transition from a higher to lower or a

lower to higher reading. This is

normal.

If the vehicle is operating

outside the normal operating range,

the charging system light comes on.

See Charging System Light 0 138

for more information. The voltmeter

gauge may also read lower when in

fuel economy mode. This is normal.

Readings outside the normal

operating range can also occur

when a large number of electrical

accessories are operating in the

vehicle and the engine is left idling

for an extended period. This

condition is normal since the

charging system is not able to

provide full power at engine idle. As

engine speeds are increased, this

condition should correct itself as

higher engine speeds allow the

charging system to create maximum

power.

The vehicle can only be driven for a

short time with the readings outside

the normal operating range. If the

vehicle must be driven, turn off all

accessories, such as the radio and

air conditioner.

Readings outside the normal

operating range indicate a possible

problem in the electrical system.

Have the vehicle serviced as soon

as possible.

Mine does the same thing. Annoying as hell. I think 12.5 is way to low myself.

Just threw in a new battery today...2016 sierra, bought it in September, truck had 10 miles on it when I drove it off the lot, it now has 1600 miles on it. No, I didn't forget a 0. Battery would not hold a charge, 100% dead. And leaking. Guy at Autozone said it had marks on it from a junkyard. Nice.

I know the warranty covers it, but my time is important to me. I figured it would be quicker to buy a new one than to have the truck towed to the dealer, so I ate this cost.

I put a Duralast Platinum AGM in my 2014 Camaro a few months ago. Same group battery as my truck. I think my truck got a AGM battery from Sams Club. Optimas have a great rep, but others are caught up now. AGM is my choice of technology these days. But I don't have any long term experience to judge them yet. I do have several negative experiences with OEM Delcos. Very short life...2 years on 4 in a row.

Northstar makes a pretty heavy duty group 94r battery too. 259 dollars .

That is the way I went too. Made in America.
