LED lamps Come std on 2017 Denali and optional on SLT and All Terrain

Anybody have these ?? are they alot better than the HID projector beam headlamos that come stock on the 2017 .

...... are these HID any different than what the 2014-2016 SLT had ???

I can't compare to the previous SLT models, but I do have the LEDs in my 2017 SLT and they are amazing. The light is crisp, projects well and the high beams light up the entire road.

My '17 Denali has them ... best lights I have ever owned

I've got them in my '17 All Terrain and love them. Imo the appearance of the housing and the fact there is no turn signal bulb made them worth it to me.

They didn't start putting the LED/HID headlights in the Sierra's or Silverado's until 2016. 2014-2015 have halogen projector for the Sierra's and they sucked.

I put aftermarket HID's in my 2015 SLT headlights and it they were pretty good.

Now I have upgraded to the 16/17 LED headlights and I am happy with the output.

Ok good to know Now how good are the factory HID that come in the 2017

My 2016 has the LED headlights and by comparison they are at least 4 times better than my 2014 SLT Halogen projection headlights. IMHO these LED headlights are the best headlights I have ever seen with a truck that does not have OffRoad style light bars.

i am not sure how the 17 factory LED and 17 factory HID's would compare in a head to head test but you would think that the HID's would be fairly good.

I looked at a 2017 SLT with HIDs and bought an AT with LEDs. Before I bought my Wrangler I didn't realize headlights were a thing I had to worry about, but I learned my lesson.

The dealership lot is up a bit higher than the road and the trucks are parked perpendicular to it, overlooking the road. When I turned the HIDs on, it felt like they lit up the whole world. The SLT was a 5.3 and I preferred the look of the AT (the dealer didn't have any 6.2 ATs on the lot), but I honestly almost bought the SLT on the spot anyway because of how much better the lights were than my Jeep. I already knew the only reasonably close AT the way I wanted one had LEDs and all the trucks on the lot were HIDs at the time. The HIDs were good enough that I almost switched trucks over the headlights since I hadn't seen the LEDs and I didn't want to get screwed again. That sounds silly, but crappy headlights are something that are truly miserable and I'm not so handy that I'd want to tackle aftermarket headlight replacement.

I think the LEDs are a little better, but not by leaps and bounds. I might be biased because they are what the truck I bought has. They are a whiter light and I didn't get to look at them side by side, so memory and color temperature differences may be throwing off the comparison for me too. But I can't imagine having any trouble seeing with either one. I would have happily bought a truck with the HIDs too. It is so nice being able to see at night! Honestly probably my favorite part of the truck, and I like a LOT of things about the truck. I didn't realize how much it bothered me before.

Not sure where you are, but the dealer here is open until 8. Here in the pacific northwest, it is still pretty dark by 8, even after the time change. If you're concerned, just do what I did and go to the dealership after dark to check 'em out for yourself. The sales guy said I wasn't the only one to want to see the headlights, so it apparently isn't THAT unusual of a request.

Funny how good headlights are such a key feature, yet I'd guess most of us (including myself) typically shop for a vehicle during the day time. I've got to start looking at vehicles at night in the future because the stock headlights on my Silverado were awful. Much better now that I swapped them for LED's but would to have liked to have good headlights from the start. Oh well - live and learn!

Good Info Sierra Matt thats what I was looking for someone who has seen both the HID and LED on a 2017 ..... I expect the LED to be whiter just did not want the HID to be ALOT worse than the LED the 2014/15 halogen were terrible just wanted to hear the HID were a big improvement

MY 2017 AT already ordered but did not go for the AT Premium pkg that includes the LED headlamps and was concerned I screwed up I assume I can always replace just the factory HID bulbs for something even better witout having to install a whole kit etcetc

35W HID will always have a higher lumen output than LED (for now). As headlight technology improves that may change.

Now the quality of the projector is the next half of the equation, if the stock HID projector doesn't work as well as the LED one (as was the case with the 2014/2015) it doesn't really matter how many lumens you produce if you can't throw them onto the road properly.

Stock 2017 LED projector will most likely be very similar output to the 2017 stock HID projector. But if you retrofit for example The Retrofit Source's FX-R Projector into those headlamps then the FX-R projectors will outshine the stock LED's 1000% of the time. They are probably the best projector on the market.

I had 55W morimoto's in FX-R projectors on my old f150 and they are much better than my Denali LED, regardless I am 100% satisfied with the LED's because they are complete and working with warranty from the factory.

Here are some photos of the old retrofit.
