How many regret leaving....

The more I think about it now I probably should have just kept my 06 silverado z71. Sold it about a year and a half ago. 9 years of driving it everyday...one wheel hub bearing and a set of front pads. There is no doubt in my mind that truck would out last my 15 sierra.

I regret getting rid of my 2014 Ram 1500.

 

I had a Laramie so equal to the SLT with all the options. Had the Rambox system, air suspension, sunroof, keyless push button start and more.

 

Got rid of it when my wife lost her job to lose a vehicle payment for a time. When things improved we needed a reliable no worries vehicle so I wanted a truck. GM throwing 12k off the sticker of my 2015 as a left over made it hard to even look at Ram or Ford for that matter.

 

Haven't had any issues with this truck yet after 1 year 4 months and 18k miles though. Just missing the features and storage options of the Ram.

There is nothing to take my vehicle in for fit and finish or sound, as that is the way they drive. I've driven quite a few, and they're all exactly the same as mine. If I'd never driven something better put together, I wouldn't even notice the things I do.

I'd take that bet of a Silverado outlasting my old BMW (especially with me continuing to service it for the new owner and them hopefully selling it back in a few years). In fact, it'd definitely win over my Silverado which I just dropped off at the dealer due to Chevy Shake issues and it needing a new transfer case to cure them, at 6500 miles. Whether that is the norm or not is inconsequential to me since it is my t-case that is eating itself apart. In reality, I'd bet my '84 GMC will outlast the '17; it definitely will in my driveway.

Hell even my '84 GMC rides better. Fortunately I owe less than the trade in, so a new set of headlights illuminating my garage may soon be in order. I'm glad it rides better, as old reliable is once again my daily driver. Hopefully the new case gets out in before next Friday when I'm scheduled to take the truck full of dive gear from upstate NY to Key Largo...I sure as hell don't want to drive the '84 with 2 other people and no AC!

You can't compare these to a brand like BMW... there is no comparison at all. As I have said many times before, if BMW or Merc ever came out with a pickup I would buy it in a heartbeat. They are just that much better.

 

I wasn't even comparing to a new Bimmer, I was comparing these to my 9 year old, 130k mile BMW, which makes the comparison that much sadder.

I had a 2015 Ram 1500 Big Horn that had heated seats and steering wheel. And of course Ram is notorious for their extra storage space, but I don't regret going to GM. I loved my 2016 Silverado LT, and I love my 2016 GMC Sierra SLE Z71. Personally, there really is no comparison. My Silverado and Sierra both are the "All-Star Edition" so they have the exact same features, minus the heated seats and steering wheel. My interior is so much nicer, the exterior design is so much nicer, and my screen is bigger. I do miss the 8-speed Ram transmission, but that's literally it. GM is a steak, Ram is a Big Mac. As far as Ford goes, I like the design of the Lariat and Platinum. Not too much for the King Ranch on the exterior. If I did have the financial means, I'd still opt for a Denali/SLT/LTZ over he King Ranch. However, I LOVE the look of the Platinum, so that could be a tough decision but I would give it a shot. I am rather envious of the convex mirrors on both sides like Ford has(unless you get trailering mirrors). I do wish my Sierra had them. Overall I don't regret leaving my Ram. My next vehicle will be a GMC, and if it isn't,it would be an F150 Platinum. Or not, I'm not very confident with Ford's v8 motor for their trucks.

lol same here, my 10 year old z4 with 93k hard miles.

 

Luckily I have not had the issues with my GMC so it has been reliable so far. With as rough as it shifts I don't pit it for long term reliability though.

Hard shifts often feel worse than they are, form shifts are actually better on the transmission (less slippage of the clutches and heat). The one in my 442 has survived behind 2 307's, a turboed 455 and my current 350 and it shifts like a hammer to the back for its 130k miles.

Just traded in my '06 lifted Wrangler Unlimited for a '17 Z71 1500 last week. So far the ride is incredibly smoother than the Jeep, even though it had Fox shocks all around. All of the features the truck has are way beyond what the Jeep had, although the amount of customization options are a little limited.

 

The only thing I regret is the loss of off-road capability that the Wrangler had. However, I needed something that was comfortable, something that my girlfriend would actually ride in, and gets better fuel economy. And now when I get another Jeep, I'll have a tow pig for it!

When driving my GMC it felt gutless and did not feel like a V8 until it was over 3000 RPMs. Before trading in my 2014 Sierra I road tested a couple 2016 GMC Sierra's as well as the Silverados and they were the same exact driveability problems that my 14 had. I had enough with my GM after two of my long hunting trip ended because of breakdowns

Well I chose a 2016 F 150 with the heavy duty payload package and towing package. The Ford have a lot more room in the back on crew cabs than GM's. I have twelve thousand kilometers on my f150 and not one issue. It drives flawlessly no hesitation super smooth transmission I actually get better fuel economy than I did with the 5.3 in my GM. No vibration issues no recalls. And when I step on it it goes right away

I think any brand has it's issues, though Dodge (Ram, whatever) is the bottom pick for me.

 

We crawled in them at the auto show. Hyundai lease was up, and wifey got a 2017 Acadia. Our Hyundai Sonata was an awesome car, especially for an MSRP of $22K. The Santa Fe was nice, but not GM nice.

 

The only SUV we liked as much was a Honda Pilot, but $48K was too much (Acadia SLE-2 w/ moonroof was $34K). We still honestly miss our '05 Trailblazer EXT, but the Acadia is incredible. I mainly miss the "truck based" ride/design of the Trailblazer.

 

I made it a point to look at Ford closely - 150 and 250. Buddy has 2013 Egoboost and it is NICE, but the GM's just feel like "home" to me. Maybe because I own one, but even the Chevy W/T was comfy and nice to me. The F250 was big and beautiful, but I just felt more comfortable in the Sierra HD.

 

My lease is up next year. I may buy this one, still considering a 2500HD, and pondering another 1500 with max tow added. I can say with 95% certainty, it will be GMC or Chevy for sure (more likely GMC).
