Maybe the question should be '' How many regret their RAM, TiTan, Tundra and the other one since they got a GM?''

We had a 2003 Tahoe. Loved it. Went to a 2012 Grand Cherokee. Stuck it out for 2.5 yrs. Bought it used with 30k on it. Had more issues with it in 44k than the old Tahoe that had nearly 200k on it. Traded the JGC for a new 2017 Tahoe a few weeks ago. Loving it so far (except the DVD player that doesn't transmit wireless sound, but working on getting that fixed).

Drove Chevy's forever but was not a fan of the mid-2000s platform so I got into a Ram. Loved the Hemi, fit and finish of the interior was decent but had tons of weird electrical problems (was blowing fuses left and right). The dealership never could get it fixed - I ended up trading it for a Jeep Wrangler - that phase lasted 6 months! Then back to Chevy (Avalanche and then my current Silvy). Very happy to be back in a Chevy truck.

Actually this is exactly what I was trying to ask.....how many people think the grass is greener on the other side, only to come back???

Last summer we traded my wife's GMC 1500 in on a Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi 4x4 to pull our travel trailer. The Ram has been great, coming up on 13,000 miles with no issues. Tried to stay GM but no one would work with us on price, I'm realistic about the cost and was using Edmunds.com TMV as a start point.

I still drive my Chevy RCLB which has over 64,000 trouble-free miles!

The grass was much greener on the other side with my loaded FX4, long bed ecopoop, until the issues started.

The truck literally almost killed me 3 times with condensation from the intercooler being sucked into the intake at highway speeds putting it into limp mode. They put a new intercooler on it and reflashed it, problem fixed but I lost a very noticeable amount of power. Fought for months to get this fixed to no avail.

Paint flaking on a 53K truck in 2012 was the norm I guess, the bottoms of the doors, roof by the trim, and around the taillights was coming off.

The final straw that broke the camel's back was my back window completely shattering when my then 2 year old daughter was in the back in her car seat. If we had been at HWY speeds it would have filled the cab with shattered glass. This is due to a faulty rear defrost design and getting too warm, too quickly. Ford wanted me to pay for it, then they relented and fixed it. The issue was they put the same part # back in it's place.

Every little issue I had, it was required to be sent to Ford for authorization, even the smallest things.

I only have a LT2 truck now, and I miss a lot of the creature comforts of that loaded truck, but this truck is reliable for me. Next truck will be a 1-2 year old LTZ duramax for sure.

I've been a ford guy my whole life. Still own a few fords including my one ton, a 2006 f350 drw v10.

Fact is that gm put a better package together. Their larger displacement engine combined with higher compression ratio and direct injection just make for a more pleasurable vehicle to drive and one that I think will be lower in maintenance. I've been away for I'm gm for ten years and left over a duramax diesel crew cab that started rusting at the bottom of all four doors within a year of the purchase of a new truck. Still within the 36000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. This is on a truck that lives in an area that rarely gets salt and was never drivin in the winter because I had a beater truck I drove most days like that. They said it had to rust through before they would honor the warranty.

Gm wouldn't stand behind it and I sold it before it got worse, been driving fords and Toyotas ever since.

Let's hope I don't have a repeat this time. I bought this truck for a work truck, it's a month old and has scratches. That's ok. Life will go on. They put a nicer package together and that's good enough for me.

One thing I learned from being on several vehicle boards, no one ever comes back to an old board and admits, or rarely admits they made a mistake getting rid of their previous vehicle. It's almost always greener grass on the other side according to them. What I don't get is the people who continue to come back to a GM board and talks up how great their Ford or RAM is.

I had a Titan before this and thought it was a great truck. It also was a completely different truck (long bed, no power windows/doors, no cruise control, vinyl floors, etc) from this one so it is hard to compare. It always had power when I stepped on the gas and it was very reliable so there was not much else I could ask for!

Most vehicles I've regretted something about them when I traded in. The grass was always greener and usually had modified them someway, no matter what bran. That is until I modified the new one. Then in about two years and 100K miles the bug would return. I'm hoping this time will be different.

This is my first Chevy truck. I traded a 2008 F150 for it. I have no regrets. I love the superior ride, handling, and performance of the Chevrolet. The G80 locker along with four wheel drive that can be set to "auto" really works nicely with the winter driving conditions that we have in my area. I love the transmission. (Yes, even though some find it clunky) The transmission stays in a low enough gear while going down hills to slow the truck, rather than just shifting up into overdrive and forcing me to hit the brakes. As I've put some miles on it, the clunky shifts have smoothed out, and I can't really feel it shift anymore. When I step on the gas, the transmission puts the engine right in the sweet spot between 3,000 and 3500 RPM and it pulls right up to red line. (Where as if I stomped on it in the Ford, the engine would go straight to redline, then shift into the next gear.) While the 5.3 is apparently a wimp compared to the mighty 6.2, I find it to be good enough for my use. The 5.3 is a much more powerful engine than the 5.4 Triton in my old Ford. I love the low end grunt and flat torque curve of the 5.3. I find it to be very similar to the LS1 in my 1998 Camaro SS. I have absolutely no desire to go back to the F-150. (Altough I still think the F150 is a great truck. It's just not a truck for me.)

If I ever have need for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck, I'll probably go back to Ford. I've always liked their Super Duty line and have driven many of them for work. The Duramax is definately a better engine than the newer Power Strokes (Everything past the old International Harvester 7.3) But I think Ford has GM's HD series beat in terms of the suspension setup (solid front axle) and overall driving position and visibility for towing.

If I ever do make the switch back to Ford, I'll miss my Silverado. I really do like just about everything about this truck for how I use it.
