Help making my truck sound good!

Hi everyone. I just bought a 2014 GMC Sierra SLE. I took it into an exhaust shop today to make it louder like my 2006 was. They ended up removing the muffler and it's a tad louder than stock, but still not loud. We tried it with a magnaflow muffler first and it sounded stock.

Tonight I crawled under my truck and it looks like there's still a resonator near the tail pipe. Would removing that make it loud like I want? I just don't want my exhaust cobbled together. Thoughts? Advice?

Would this work?

Welcome!

Many forum members have gone with a Borla exhaust (the non-GM one) paired with a cold air intake. I have a Borla S-Type on my Silverado with an aFe CAI. Sounds awesome (in my opinion) and much better than the stock.

Are you keeping the resonator and flapper though?

I didn't install it, but I know the flapper is gone. Only the GM-Borla has the flapper still.

Corsa and Borla sport/atak will be the sound you're looking for if you're looking for loud. Plenty of sound clips floating around on the youtubes for your aural pleasure!

This is one of the video's I used when trying to make a decision. I think this video alone was what sold me on it (good comparison):

I ended up going the less expensive route and swapped out the stock muffler for a Flowmaster Super 10, resonator delete and tacked the valve open. It sounds way better than it did before and it's not too loud where it's obnoxious. Eventually, I plan on doing a true dual exhaust with the tips dumped down just behind the rear bumper on either side. But until then, this works just fine for me.

I did muffler delete and have always used the same custom bender. Then at 58 I decided my loud exhaust days were over on my DD. I put on a magaflow type muffler and it was almost as quite as stock. The muffler delete cost me 40$

Volant same as Corsa right? I looked into them last year, even emailed the sales department, they didn't make a catback for 2016 sierra with the 6.2, only Corsa.

I had the Super 10 on my old Silverado, I loved it. I don't know for sure if I'm gonna back to it or just do Magnaflow or Borla.
