Trying to get an idea what my 2017 LT would look like with 285's on it with my stock 18's

Called a local shop and they told me to go with there 2.5" Open country front and back lift. $600 installed with alignment.

Thinking:

285/65/18 BFG

275/70/18 BFG

Here's mine with 275/65-18 with 1" front end lift. 285/65-18 is only 1/2" taller and 3/8" wider, so you are looking at 1/4" radius taller. All the 285/65's I found were LT, I wanted to stay with a P-Rated tire. Picture in my signature is side shot, couldn't find it on the computer, might have gotten deleted. This picture shows the air dam trimmed also.

Recently I added 285/65R18 BFG KO2's to my 2014 Silverado.
I installed Bilstein 5100's up front on the highest setting.
I did the teardown of the stock coilovers but I had a local shop swap the shocks out in the coilovers for $75.00. Installation in the truck was super easy.
Have absolutely no rubbing on the felt or sway bar.
I removed the front airdam thing just cause it sucks.
Speaking of sucking; I still have the craptastic RanchoMcNuts on the rear. I need to get to get to that soon.
I purchased 3" lift blocks along with the longer Bilstein rear shocks but haven't installed them yet. Been too busy.

You can't go wrong with 285/65R18 BFG's and Bilsteins.

This sounds like a decent price for a front and back level/lift! With this amount of lift you could fit a larger tire or with less lift you could still fit the sizes you are considering. Be cautious of the argument that one size is only a "1/2 inch" taller or wider than another size. This variation can make a significant visual difference. Saving money and/or weight by choosing a size smaller than you truly want may make no difference to the casual onlooker but it will bother you for a long time! Ask me how I know!

285/65r18 is the largest you can go with stockers on a 2.5 level without fear of rub. I'm running 275/65r18 and all I can advise on that is don't get this size, especially in BFGs that tend to run narrow anyway. Way too small a tire on a leveled truck.

285s look just OK, but still a little small. They look a little better in Nitto and Cooper because BFGs have a very narrow treadwidth and sidewalls with little bulge (section width). The 295/70 looks incredible, but on stockers you are going to rub UCA and Swaybar at full lock if you can live with that and KO2 don't come in that size. You can get away from rub with about a +6 offset or a 1" spacer if you want to cut your studs.

Sounds cheesy, but I am so torn over this issue because I don't want a bro-dozer but I also don't want to go 285 and be disappointed for 3 years like I am with my 275s.

I'm considering the new Falken AT3W in 305/65r18 as there is at least one truck on this forum running that with a level and claiming no rubbing. I care way more about width as seen coming and going rather than 1/2" taller side profile.

    • I Wouldn't Know Where to Begin    Oh I know where I would begin but I'm just one of over eight billion people on this rock. Eight billion versions of where the goal post is. How large it should be. How far to kick from. What ball is the right ball. Elevation. Age.....are you getting the point? It isn't about disagreeing with one individual. It's about agreeing only with one individual. One's self.   Agreement comes when multiple people hold the same point already. THAT is the goal of an education. Building the Social Contract. That thing that allows us to all read this sentence. We've agreed on the alphabet and how to arrange those letters into words we agree upon whose meanings hold true for everyone entering into that contract. Those words arranged into a sentence form an idea and several sentences strung together in a paragraph convey an argument for or against or inform the reader of a state, condition or perhaps reveal a things nature. Paint a word picture. Make oneself known.    This contract is not limited to words although they are often explained by words. Things like numbers and their usefulness. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Music, Art and so on.    The frequency of middle C (C4) is 261.63 Hz. We build on that to make music we all can enjoy even if we all can not compose or play. You don't have to master it to make it enjoyable and useful.    So why is the Beginning so difficult? Why is agreement so elusive?   Everyone "Signs" the contract (when receiving that education in obtaining it)  but fewer and fewer in this world have any intention of living by that contract. They find exploiting that contract more advantageous. Disruption. With intent. Without intent. In Ignorance. In your face. With a double dog dare you. With a hold my beer. In resistance to that contract and in spite how it looks on us. It permeates the very air we breath.    In this way the contract is subject o advantage. Abide by it when it serves you, disregard it when it doesn't. Unpredictable and self-serving. Corrosive.....Toxic........   It says a lot about a persons character to disregard the contract, the truth, first principles. None of it good.        ********************************************************   https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/character-vs-personality-who-we-are-and-who-we-aspire-to-be/   Just an interesting article.
    • It costs $5,250 for the Yukon Nightfall option (black wheels, emblems and illuminated black GMC grill badge). What a "deal".
    • I keep getting the above error message on my 25 Sierra.  If I reset the infotainment unit (via the phone hang up button) it will work again for a day or 2.   But I dont want to do have to reset  all the time. Works fine in my 2023 Corvette. On both vehicles I connect wirelessly.   I have a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, phone is up to date.  Any Ideas.  See attached
    • LOL, its thrown a few people because this item is being talked about in the gas part of the HD forum. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a very brief wording in your profile with the year/GM or Chev/2500 or 3500/ and yes the 6.6 Duramax. When I joined this forum I could see the confusion ensuing for my own truck unless I had it listed with my chosen name handle unless one has a few vehicles that apply to a GM forum as that becomes confusing as well. Anyway its all good, makes for a little forum excitement 😉
    • Gasgacinch, James Gaskets. Good stuff. High tac to help hold the gasket in place while assembling parts. Fills minor surface imperfections. Slightly elastic. Gasoline / coolant / oil proof. Very handy stuff. Nothing like RTV.
