Is anyone running clearance lights on a 1500?

I am playing around with the idea of getting clearance lights on my truck, does anyone with a 1500 run these? Are there any problems with installing them this way? What is a good brand?

I've wondered what it would look like..I have the towing mirrors with the Amber LED's so I think if the stance is good and aggressive it would good.

I had Recons on my '12. Wasn't hard at all to install. Just make a template before you drill and check it twice!

The thought of drilling into my roof just got some clearance lights doesn't sound like it's worth the risk IMO. I know, I know, you can make it so it keeps the water out, but just the possibilities of issues keeps me away. I'm all for lighting on trucks, but not this one. Just my 2 cents.

I see in one of the threads that Linecapt provided a member set up scaffolding to install clearance lights. This is a great idea and addresses my biggest concern about this modification! I wonder how a dealer would do this install!

Did it on my 02, but it looked badass on a truck lifted 10 inches on 37's, I don't think it'd look good on a stock or even leveled 1500

Thanks everyone! If i did it i would have a shop professionally install them, that way if they leak its their fault and also I'm not a fan of wiring. So that would take out some issues, only issue I'm having is i don't have tow mirrors and even though my truck is big idk if its big enough to get the clearance lights, I'm just scouring the internet for a truck close to mine that is running them!

I always use to put them on my trucks in the 80's and was pissed when they stopped offering them on 1500's in the 90's. I have also thought about it but have never gotten around to it! Back on those 80's trucks it was harder because they had the multi layers of metal in the roof. There was lots of fishing of harness involved.

I never had leak issues on the ones I use to install. I always went with the OEM GM ones complete with harness. Back then they had a rubber gasket that virtually eliminated any concern for leaks. I am sure GM would have that issue covered now as well.

Why would anyone need clearance lights? Drilling holes just gives you another potential leak source for each light.

"Need" is not really a factor when discussing many modifications. I can "justify" clearance lights because I like how they look.and they increase your visibility to other drivers in inclement weather. Leaks are not a concern if they are installed correctly.

I had them on my last couple 3500's and they looked great...not a fan of them on a 1500 though.
