Throttle response is poor.

So this wont work on trucks with adjustable pedals?

It worked on mine just fine and I have them.

So I just read this thread and thought "Self you have paint sticks in the garage, why dont you try this?" I first checked out the "Flex" in the pedal and I can 100% confirm that there is indeed a lot of it. I install the paint stick and checked the flex again and it was gone. I can know confirm that this solves the pedal flex issue. However I noticed a small change in throttle response at best. Certainly not night and day. If somebody did this to my truck and never told me I would likely never know there was a change. That being said I never truly noticed a lag in the throttle response anyways. Is this supposed to fix low speed and low throttle input response or does it effect the mid range more? My test drive was just in the neighborhood and never really got on it I just tested it under normal low speed stop and go neighborhood traffic.

I drive my truck very lightly and a couple times a week when I did this I forgot about the paint stick and notice the 2nd week my nose dive take offs were gone.Im sure some trucks are different then others but it worked for me,before I would give it throttle and it would give a hiccup and then it would take off now it takes off smooth.

I was skeptical, but this really does make a noticeable difference at takeoff. Much smoother and more responsive on my 16 sierra. Thanks for sharing!

I have a 07 Silverado 5.3 liter sending a ghost message I hook it to the reader delete it start driving when I come to a stop engine idles clicks back on while the engine light is on I cannot use the auto start or else it will kill the battery otherwise runs fine what do I do I have changed the foot pedal made no difference clean the throttle body no difference don't see any physical damage I've got a hundred ninety-nine thousand miles on it party brand new happened a little bit after 60,000 miles according to factory warranty it would not be covered even though the dealership told me when I bought the truck it was pumper to Bumper 100,000 miles

I have adjustable pedals and it was joke with the play/flex. I removed the whole assembly down to the plastic mount that has bolts attached to it.

I placed 2qty 1/8" thick plastic washers 1.125" in diameter over the 3qty bolts and put pedal assembly back and tightened down. I then took a plastic shim like a wood shim yet plastic and cut it down. At this point I pried up plastic mount and squeezed caulk and shim behind.

Took truck for "Hot Lap" and this thing now has probably 100% better throttle response! The best and first MOD evey body should be doing! Thanks OP why didn't I open this thread 1yr ago?

Sorry, I am mechanically versed but computer illiterate! All I can do is walk you through to make it easy peasy!

1st go to ACE Hardware and buy the White nylon/plastic Spacers "6QTY TOTAL" in this EXACT SIZE....1/8" thick and 1.125" OD the 1.250" would work too but not sure.

2nd I would use a plastic/synthetic shim instead of wood but I suppose wood works fine too...I am just that way though. Home depot sells a package of em couple bucks.

3rd go home and remove the plastic retainer clip on the electrical connection to accelerator the bigger one and disconnect......Look straight up and disconnect the smaller connection there is no safety clip on that one.

4th get a Torx drive probably 30-40 in size not sure I never looked just thought to myself it was bigger than I expected and remove the 2qty Torx bolts that attach the actual pedal to unit.

5th use a 10mm extended socket on a 6" extension and remove the 3qty nut/washer all in ones that hold the unit onto the plastic bracket. The nut inside the unit can only be reached through a hole and JUST BE CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING YOU DON't DROP the nut inside the unit.....I DID but got it with magnet just was annoying and 105 degrees out....

6th once the sending unit has been removed place your 2qty plastic SPACERS PER BOLT=6QTY TOTAL from ACE over the bolts that have a I.D that is just bigger that the bolt itself...I think the ID's were .300"

7th Place unit back onto bolts and even it out inside it's preformed position and slowly tighten up the nut/washer all in ones using a TORQUE PATTERN because it flexes and creaks and keeps getting tighter to the plastic form this way and the washers seat etc. You will know when your done because the bolts will now stick past the nut/washer just shy of 1/4" and they will be snug but can deceive you if your not careful when tightening.

8th put the accelerator pedal back, tighten the 2qty bolts nice and tight and place BOTH electrical connections back!

9th now pull the carpet and foam back/down and out of your way. CUT the 1st Inch of plastic SHIM and last 2" off so your left with the middle....Grab a prybar or cats paw or something and some decent caulk! Just shoot a bunch of caulk up under the gap behind the plastic piece that is sticking 1/8"1/4' off the metal floorboard/firewall and use your pry bar higher up on the side and pull it away more and quickly jam the shim in behind and let go with pry bar.....Still not done grab a flathead and push the shim up yet higher to really get that bugger up in there tight! Replace foam carpet etc. and you don't need to cut any of that if your wondering.

10th final step promptly back the pig out of driveway and rip it! It's freaking NICE all thanks to the OP!

Can you stack 3qty per bolt? Yeah, you probably could but I wanted to make sure I had enough bolt left and didn't want protruding awkwardly from plastic mold on the floorboard. I perfectly fine with the 2qty stacked and the finished product is very stout nothing janky/chincy about it!

I would like to recant my previous statement. After driving around town tonight I did notice quite the difference after I did the fix. Its pretty stupid we have to use paint sticks to fix a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Did anyone stop to think maybe GM designed that flex in the gas pedal on purpose to keep people from running into stuff on accident or from just having fun.

They did I believe......Before I updated mine I drove to dealer and went through 6-8 vehicles! they are spot on same exact? Looks to me like it's all about having a "floating" gas pedal and customer does not feel feel Powertrain road vibes etc......just my two cents.......
