How big of a pain was this to do with the adjustable pedals??

Easy -- took literally 30 seconds:

I used the shims in my previous post. Kneeled on the ground outside the truck and reached up near the gas pedal. Pulled the carpet out of the way. Pulled the gas pedal bracket away from the firewall with my right hand while I slipped the shim behind it with my left hand. Put the carpet back. DONE!

I had my new Sierra at the dealer last week to have a leveling kit installed. Told him about the truck bogging down (which my 2015 didn't do) He told me to put some miles on it and it would work out. I came across this post, put a block of wood behind the plastic that's attached to the pedal assembly and the problem is fixed. BTW, I have adjustable pedals also, but the plastic piece that has the play in it doesn't move with the pedals.

Also have adjustable pedals but if you watch the video that was previously posted, explaining the mod, I don't believe it matters if you have adjustable pedals or not.

After a few days of running the truck with the wood in place, I've noticed my gas mileage has decreased a bit. I believe the truck doesn't switch into V4 mode as easily as before. On a 65 mi trip last week I averaged 18.9 mpg. Made the same trip yesterday and had a 17.1 mpg avg.

It had to be designed that way for a purpose and this may be it.

Anyone else noticing a decrease in gas mileage?

Could only be because you're laying into the pedal more and accelerating more quickly. Need to adjust your input from what used to be required since the first bit of pedal stroke isn't dead anymore.

I understand that, but I'm also noticing when I'm at cruising speed, the truck doesn't go into V4 mode like it used to unless I back off the pedal. Never had to do that in my 2015 or my 2017 before. It would usually go into V4 mode when I was just cruising without having to back off the pedal.

I'm just asking if anyone else has noticed that as well?

There's no way a piece of wood jammed between a plastic bracket and the firewall would cause this. Your throttle input is different.

Nope, No difference here actually my mileage is 20MPG's combined still no change since break-In

My fuel actually got better, because now I'm not slamming the pedal to the floor to move.

Actually I just took mine on a 500 mile round trip mostly highway driving. I averaged 23-24 mpg and watched the DIC to see it go into V4 mode often.

So my 2017 adjustable pedals, have some flex when you pull backwards on the gas pedal, but no flex that I can see when pushing in on the gas pedal, as would be if you were accelerating.

So I'm assuming this trick wouldn't do anything for me. Anyone else have this situation, but still found good results from doing this trick anyways?
