2016 Sierra All Terrain vs 2016 Tundra TRD Pro

Looking at both of these in Crew Cab. 5.3 vs 5.7

Give me a list of pros and cons. I like that both are color matched and not chromed out. The Tundra is more powerful and more reasonably priced but seems to get worse gas mileage and rides slightly less smooth. Looks are debatable. Interior colors and options seem identical. GM warranty obviously better. Don't really tow much and looking for good interior room. I'd be happy with either so this is not to create animosity towards one or the other.

Ready go.

Price may be closer than you think after discounts and rebates because Toyota dealers don't come much off MSRP on the TRD Pro's. 5.3 vs the Tundra, I'd take the tundra. Now on the other hand if you said 6.2...

how about a motor trend or road and track or whoever I cant recall article ( they are all the same) that all place Tundra in a dead last place behind Chevy, Ford and Dodge. Toyota got it right for many many years with the Tacoma, but the Tundra is just laughable.

Tundra is ugly, the interior and tech is outdated, it has 388 horse I believe compared to the 5.3's 355, but if I recall it was slower in 1/4 tests.

If they spent half as much time trying to make a good truck as they do marketing the fact that it is "assembled in Texas" they might have a good product

I expect you to get mostly pro GM responses since you posted this on gm-trucks.com. Everyone on here has made the decision to by a GM truck over all others.

Now if you go post the same question on tundra.com (assume there is such a thing) you will probably find exactly the opposite.

I have driven tundras for work. They were not the brand new 2016's, so this may have changed, but that said, my opinions: 1. tundras are butt ugly. 2. terrible fuel mileage, as you already said. 3. I hated the way they handled and feel when driving. The suspension, transmission, everything just felt like you were driving a larger version of a prius, or childs toy.

Here is another thing to take into consideration. How many times to you see contractors or "professionals" driving Tundra's opposed to GM and Ford?

tundra has the 4.10 rear which gm doesnt offer but u said u dont tow often, so might not be a big deal for u

this while being a joke is pretty much how I see guys in Tundra's in real life

I don't personally care for the styling of the Turds vs the Silverados. Inside or out

But they do have a ginormous back seat if that's what you're looking for.

I'll be honest here. I love the Tundras, would've really considered them if my wife didn't hate the way they looked. The only issue we had was finding one with comparable features for a similar price (my gmc was $31, a comparable toyo was $36-$38). I guess you could call that good resell?

Long story short, I bought a GMC Sierra and love it. It has been pretty trouble free, and I have no regrets. I do not know the reliability of the tundras currently, but every Toyota I have ever owned has easily gone over 200k, and you can't put a cost on that. My last truck was a 2004 Silverado, and that thing rattled like crazy and had noises coming from everywhere. Get what you love. The 2014-up Sierra/Silverados look to be built way better than the old ones (imo).

I loved the room my 2014 crewmax had, especially for people in back seats. It's the only truck that I've owned where people fought for the back seats. Interior was nothing special. It did run great and would pass most everything thing but a gas station. If my current 2016 all terrain had the crewax room in the back seats, it would be a dream.

my neighbors on both sides of the house drive tundras, never had problems. i think they are good trucks

It was already mentioned here that Tundra came in last place and that they really have not updated the truck since the original Tundra 5.7L. However, as also mentioned, the reliability of a Tundra is great, not sure you can put a price to that.

I settled on a 5.3L SLT Z71 because of the gas mileage and some of the technology that came with it. However, mine has not been that reliable and sometimes wish I went with the tried and true of the Toyota that always works. If i had to do it all over again, I would have skipped over the 5.3l and looked at the 6.2 vs the 5.7l in the tundra platinum or 1974 edition

August of last year, I was having the same dilema. I was really hooked on the quicksand color, but the wifey hated it...part of me thinks that's why I liked it so much!

The TRD Pro has a Fox suspension that rides really nice compared to stock GM (imho) and is already leveled. The interior was Spartan compared to a higher end GM truck. A couple of cool widgets but nothing special. As said before, a refugee family could comfortably live in the crewmax. The mpg was in the upper 14-15 range from what my research showed.

Looked into ordering a 17 in Concrete, Msrp $48k and some change. I couldn't get solid info on ordering or estimated time of delivery. Honestly, had the salesman wanted to sell me one, I would have ordered one. It just seemed he wasn't interested and I knew more about the truck than he did.

I found a tagged 16 ATX and bought it instead, not unhappy with my decision. Although, local dealership has a 17 Tacoma in concrete that is making me rethink.

I looked hard at the 2017 Tundra Crew Cab before deciding on a 2017 Silverado 1500 crew. Unlike the others, I actually like the way the tundra looks, I'd say that looks was kind of a wash for me. The reliability of Toyota is amazing and I do lease 3 toyotas for my company (camry, rav 4, and tacoma) and they all drive great. The big deciding factor for me was bang for your buck, and the tech in the GM trucks is great, big screens, apple car play is awesome. I was not at all impressed with the interior of the tundra other than the large size of the cab. Also, like the others have said, the gas mileage is garbage on those trucks, my 2011 Silverado got better gas mileage than the 2017 tundra, that's pretty bad. As far as power is concerned, the 5.3 moves pretty damn good, especially if you're not towing. Overall, it's personal preference, I don't really think you can go wrong either way, so just test drive the shit out of them and see which one wins out. Although, I doubt you'll find as good of forums if you go with Toyota. Best of luck.
