Can't Set Radio Station Favorites

My 2015 GMC Denali 1500 with the 8" touchscreen radio/Nav needed a new battery the other day, and when I changed the battery I lost all my preset radio station favorites. I knew that was going to happen and figured I'd just reset them.

 

Now I can't get the radio stations to save as a preset. I go to the radio station I want to save (Satellite Radio or regular AM/FM) and hold the radio favorite button on the touch screen to save it, and nothing happens. The button doesn't change from a number to the name or frequency of the station. I know I'm holding the button long enough because I save new radio station favorites all the time.

 

So it seems I can save my radio favorites any longer. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it? Thank you!

I did get it taken care of at the dealer eventually. The first time they couldn't figure it out. The tech was able to restore my ability to set AM/FM presets but not satellite radio. I brought my truck back a few days later and a different tech did an update to the radio and it fixed it completely.

For people who find this in the future....

 

I had the exact some problem in my '15 Sierra after replacing my battery yesterday. I had 25 presets originally shown. I could set 11 but it wouldn't save anything else even though I had 25 spots showing. You don't need to go to the dealer. Go to the home screen on the touchscreen. Go to Settings>Restore Factory Settings>Clear All Private Data and then follow the on screen instructions. It says to turn the car off, open/close the door (to turn off the retained accessory power I presume) and then wait at least 1 minute before turning the car on again. Doing this I can now add radio favorites again.

 

I first tried resetting the radio settings but that didn't work. I then tried the Clear All Private Data option and it worked.

I kinda miss just having a regular old radio/cd player!

 

 

I scratch my head that vehicles come with CD players still. Nobody I know uses the CD player in their car; it's all about SD cards or iPods. I don't even own a computer with a disk drive anymore :lol:

A CD player was a must for me when I was shopping for a new truck in 2014 but I don't think I have used it but a hand full of times in the last 3 years. Got the SD card loaded up and listen to XM the other times but it I am old enough where I would still be just fine with a CD player and FM radio. What I am mainly getting at is that these new radios are near impossible to replace with something else because they are so integrated with the other electronics so when they do tear up you are SOL and your wallet is much lighter.

This isn’t what we like to hear, Bldr520! If you still can’t get your favorite stations to save, try calling our Connection Center Team at 1-877-558-8352. 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. EST, Monday – Sunday. They may be able to figure out a solution. Good luck!

Same old story, my ear was sore from the complaints about the radios I received when I worked for a dealership . My 2017 same situation. In stark contrast my wife owns a Jeep with their U-Connect system, no problems to date, user friendly, smart /convenient features that are easy to figure out...cant say the same for my "Intell" link.

I use mine all the time, too lazy to transfer all my old stuff to a different media source.

I wanted on too and use it because XM reception is horrendous. FM works great and I don’t want to upgrade or replace, it works for me lol

Never have had a problem but I’m a simpleton...friends Jeep works great too but my girlfriend’s old Lexus sucked!

I had this problem (can't set presets 2015 GMC Bose) after a battery reset and using settings to erase private data as mentioned above fixed the issue. Probably I could have just disconnected the batteries again to do the same thing, but maybe not, as I had been able to set 3 pre-sets after the battery disconnect, but some time later I could no longer set pre-sets. AFter clearing private data everything worked again.

For the record, I have disconnected the batteries many times on this truck and never had that problem before, but I was glad it was easy to fix.

 

Just replying to highlight this problem/solution.

Thanks Dunc!!! Worked for my 2015 Lacrosse. The problem started after replacing the battery. I've been trying to get this figured out for over a year after multiple service techs and many google searches.

I'd put up with the radio glitches on a chevy than have to put up with all the other glitches that come with owning a jeep, lol.

      Progress... sort of.   Intake is disassembled, spider is out, fuel lines removed. Used a torch on the stripped screw with the lower intake off, much easier when I've got the intake sitting on my workbench, I made it talk. Walked right out with a pair of vice grips once it was nice and toasty hot.   New parts are piling up on my service cart waiting to be installed. Distributor, temperature sensor, new gaskets, fuel line kit, themostat, water neck.   My new pickle is I don't want to spend $600 on a replacement spider. I'm not sure IT is bad. I'm probably splitting hairs. Or it's $300 to send mine away and another 3 weeks of the truck just sitting. I have half a mind to assemble everything with the old spider to see if I can get away with just replacing the fuel pressure regulator to be safe. The obvious issue was the gushing high pressure fuel line which will be replaced. Getting to the spider really isn't that hard, and now I know what I'm doing , swapping it would be a breeze should it absolutely need one. Stupid, or smart?   The part that gives me pause is replacing the distributor. Well, it's already out. And I didn't mark it, whoopsie! Engine was at TDC when I removed it, I know that, so upon correct reinstall the metal tip on the rotor should point to the TDC mark on the distributor because that's where it was pointing on the old distributor. Worst case I'm a tooth off and have to re-stab it.   But then, what? I assume the truck will start. It doesn't appear the timing can be set. Here's the problem: These distributors can't be rotated but a degree or two, by design. What I read is Cam ****** needs to be -2 to +2 degrees, ideally at 0 (and checked/set above 1000 rpm). There should be enough wiggle to get that properly set, but checking the reported value is another potential issue. My Actron 9185 scanner says it supports enhanced GM PIDs and Cam ****** is one of them but it's unclear that I'll be able to correctly see it over OBD 1.5. I can see why people end up junking these things with life left in them. They're an absolute nightmare with tweener-year diagnostics/electronics and unobtanium parts.   Fingers crossed it starts and idles nicely. There can be hope, right? I'ma buy a lottery ticket the same day just in case.   Next steps..DO IT. I have not installed an intake before so I've been reading and watching a lot. Some say NO RTV except on china walls, some say DO RTV on water ports but not fuel/air intake. 1/4 or 3/8 bead on China walls? I think my strategy will be, obviously, RTV china walls with overlap on the gasket corners. Chapstick-style RTV the water ports. Leave intake ports dry. The only set of intake gaskets I could find locally are Edelbrock performance gaskets (uh...for an asthmatic 190hp V6? LOL) so we'll see how they do.   #NoToolLeftBehind. It took an hour, but my recovery mission for my deep 10mm socket was successful. It had rolled down the bellhousing and wedged itself between what I think are the fuel lines? I couldn't see it at all, but with a junk antenna I had laying around, I blindly went poking/sweeping for it, heard it clink, raised the truck, and caught a sliver glimpse of chrome with a flashlight way up there in Narnia. I had pushed it farther along the lines holding it captive, but within access of severely improvised tools, poking and cursing at it to finally knock it free to where I could get a fingertip on it to bring it home.    Not much to see.
