Dealer tech love note

So, I had the seatbelt recall done last week, no issues, no drama. Lifted the hood this morning and found this. Has anyone else with a recent dealer visit had this too? A little carb cleaner and tooth brush removed it, I do my own oil changes and don't need to be reminded.

I'm sure this was done by some quick lube guy that's probably hired from jiffy lube or something. This isn't a common dealer practice. So, I hate that this happened.

I've never had this happen. Seems pretty unprofessional if the dealership did that. I'm glad to hear it came off easily, but may be something to bring to the Service Manager's attention.

As my father taught me about working on peoples stuff. When your finished working on somthing it should look like it was never worked on. Give it back in better condition than it was brought to you.

The problem is most people today wouldnt understand what either of those ment.

I had a secretary several years ago who liked to use a permanent marker to write this type of information on expensive office equipment. I finally had enough when she purchased an engraver!

I don't disagree with any post here, I wouldn't like it either.

But it's apparent someone was trying to be helpful. They made an error but did so trying to do the right thing.

If they weren't, and they were being purposeful idiots, the message would have been something else...

Eh! - My guess is that at sometime that dealer had a big screwup and someone got their a$$ handed to them.....and this is their way of preventing the next one.

Wouldn't like them doing it with anything other than chalk and they wouldn't have to do it to mine - do it myself when I do my first 1000 mile oil change......saves digging out the manual at every change..........comes in handy when you have 4 vehicles, each with different viscosity oils, filters and capacity sumps.... handy markings also on my boat, tractor, generator, lawnmowers etc.

This only reason I can think this was done was because this dealer had an "issue" with an oil change at one time, either under or over filled, maybe causing damage...who knows, very strange.

I wouldn't make any issue out of this with your dealer and simply request they don't do this. I have requested in the past that they don't bother with the window decal. As suggested earlier, no harm was intended.

Based on the pic, it looks like it was done before with the white smear marks on the plastic. Doesn't the oil cap have the viscosity and Dexos label on it? I'm pretty sure mine does.
